As far as the original is concerned with him just not even bothering I’m not certain which one fits him better but I lean slightly towards the remake. You could say in the original it fits with him being clever and realizing there was no point, that he knew he had no chance of escaping and to allow them to kill him as quickly as possible so he wouldn’t suffer nearly as much but I do think it’s more feasible that he wouldn’t just give up.

The realisation that he's going to be eaten alive, following by the desperation in his eyes is something I can never forget. The only slow and agonising death in Disney history... masterpiece. To me the remake scene (that's lacking the necessary emotion by design) feels like a drowning man trying to pull himself out of the water by his own hair.

The way I see it is the hyena aren't "evil". At the beginning, the hyenas just didn't like Simba coming into their home and talking all big. (They even stated hyenas and lions have always fought, and they didn't like the king for that reason.) But Scar's deal to never let them go hungry led them to help kill Mufasa, but Scar lied then blame them. Otherwise, they wouldn't have participated in all that. They actually wanted to eat Scar at first.

The Hyenas are pragmatists, they aren't evil and have always upheld the rivalry between Lions and Hyenas. Had Scar not convinced them in the deal to never let them go hungry again, they might've just killed Scar there. Scar deserved to die for many reasons 1: He murdered Mufusa just to take the throne 2: He blamed Simba for Mufusa's death and tried to kill him (both failed as Simba got away from the hyenas and he learned the cold hearted truth years later) 3: He assaulted Sarabi because her hunting party weren't doing their job and he didn't care if anyone was gonna die or not (mainly because the pride lands were desecrated and there was no food nor water and the herds had to leave) 4: He blamed the hyenas for murdering Mufusa (he only did it to save his own skin) but this backfired on him when they killed him.

The animated version and the Broadway version nailed the death perfectly! Sadly,I cannot say the same for the 2019 version. Scar looks terribly bored as he takes a "Whatever" swipe at the hyenas, and the hyenas looked like they were'nt even trying hard to kill Scar.

If you pause right before the Hyenas pounce on Scar, there are 2 coming right at him, the one that outright pounced on him probably went right for the neck while the 2 coming right in front of him probably went for the stomach or sides, and it also probably seems like all the Hyena piled onto him, were all over him and devoured him!

Fun Fact if you didn’t know: this was originally supposed to be Gaston’s Death from Beauty and The Beast he would have survived his fall from the castle after his battle with Beast with a broken leg only to be confronted by the wolves that Maurice and Belle was chased by and get eaten alive but it was cut for being too gruesome so it was saved for Scar.

There are so many differences between the 1994 scar and 2019 scar that you could say that they are not the same characters , for example 1994 scar knew the hyenas ever since he was a adolescent , 2019 scar first met the hyenas when he made the deal to let them in the pridelands , example number 2 1994 scar might not have helped with trying to keep the pridelands habitable but he scolded the hyenas and said to the hyenas " it's the lionesses that do the hunting " , 2019 scar just let the chaos go out of hand like 1994 , But unlike his 2d counterpart he didn't even scold or try to tell the hyenas to let the lionesses hunt and only said " we can finally take whatever we want " ,example number 3 1994 scar never had intrest in sarabi , he just wanted the throne and nala , 2019 scar wanted sarabi and never took interest in nalazand finally , when 1994 scar died , he never fought back , Not only because he was scared, but it was also because they were the only friends he had in his childhood besides zira , on the other hand 2019 scar fought back , in conclusion the live action lion king takes place in another part of Kenya , and the lions of the 2nd pridelands are descendants of a forgotten prince of the 1rst pridelands that left priderock and made a new pride , and why this scar is a pompous spoiled brat who thinks he can take whatever he wanted
