It's like an animated series but you guys don't have to focus on the animation, just the set building, so it's mainly story and great interactions between friends who have fun and make each other laugh. It's more than just a lets play. or an SMP. It's a hybrid web animated series.

Fun fact. You can control the witch with a raid captain renamed to Johnny. The basic mechanism is that Vindicator that is a raid captain selects target for all possible raid mobs in the vicinity (one of them is a witch). If he is renamed to Johnny he will attack any mob, making the witch attack that mob as well (for example a chicken who has less then 3 hearts if you want witch to throw weakness potions). For more details check out Doc's video Hermitcraft Season 9: Hacking Decked Out with A.I.

Ah, the conundrum of the century: which witch is causing your problems, Scar? Could it be the wily, wand-waving witch with a penchant for pranks, or perhaps the mischievous mistress of magic who meddles with your mojo? Oh, the trials and tribulations of navigating a world where witches run amok, leaving chaos and confusion in their wake! But fear not, for even in the midst of such bewitching bedlam, there's always room for a dash of humor to lighten the spell-laden atmosphere. So, dear Scar, take heart and remember: when in doubt, just blame it on the witch whose wand wobbles the most!

DUDE The healthcare system in North America in general is super broken. So, I'm autistic, but when I was a kid I couldn't be formally diagnosed because you know, in the 90s there wasn't a lot understood about women with autism and I was told I "wasn't bad enough." So.... now I've been in autistic burnout for over a year, trying to freaking get MYSELF through it without any sort of professional help because I can't get in to be "formally" diagnosed. Like, the choice is pay thousands of dollars to be diagnosed privately, or wait TWO YEARS to be diagnosed in the publicly funded clinics. Because for some reason people think you grow out of developmental disabilities. And like, I can't really work right now because of the freaking burnout so I can't save up to PAY for the private tests. Freaking INSANE.

i'm happy to hear the acolyte intends to "make the jedi look bad," as i am an eu fan and that follows the bane novels which described the "high republic" as an era where the republic began to decline into corruption and the jedi had fallen out of balance with the force, becoming too self-righteous and arrogant (i.e., too light; as was also touched on with yoda toward the end tcw) which would lead to their diminishing ability with the force during the clone war era.
@meccawood71805 ай бұрын
It was why Yoda banished himself, he felt responsible for the deterioration of the Jedi, the clone wars basically destroyed the Jedi before order 66 was even given
@ashenbreese5 ай бұрын
they (yoda even, i think) mentioned it in ep 2. plus, if yoda did have some play in it, that would put part of his influence during the era of the acolyte where he is very much alive. in eu, the jedi were an absolute mess during the equivocal era (1k bby vs 132 bby), where they had become extremely militant, not unlike the clone wars.
@meccawood71805 ай бұрын
At least with the clone wars they had half an excuse, they were fighting a war, even though that was sids intention from making sure the war started, he even made sure the major players were eliminated so the Jedi were just chasing vacuums of power instead of actual generals. It's never mentioned but I rly believe sid even made sure obi wan found grievous before the actual intent of the clone wars was played through. Yoda banisheing himself was a dual edged blade to if you think about everything in totality, not only did he blame himself for allowing the Jedi to become corrupt but it also paved the way for Luke to become a Jedi and see why the Jedi were no longer able to sustain themselves. Basically the old good vs bad thing where each good character learns if his own evil all the while the baddest of the bad come find out save the day cause they see the food in their selfs, or at least the capacity. The Jedi allowed their selfs to become that self righteous tyranny that they swore to protect everyone else from, while the ones who enslaved every one basically to the Republic sink so low in their own eyes there was nothing but room to improve XD I've always loved how the forces between the two were always balanced, if one becomes exceptionally bad then the other became that much more righteous, even when becoming that exact thing is what cause their own destruction. It's sad to see how dedicated Yoda was, but obviously he figures out what he needed to, he did become a force ghost, which you may not think is saying much, considering Anakin did, but not only was he the chosen one but noone else had to experience what he did to see the true way to balance the force, I believe the closer things got to the end the more Vader believed he would balance the force, even though that rly didn't happen considering there were still more sith around. But I guess Vader cancels sid while like rose to the moment to prepare for the next unbalancing XD ik no star wars junkie, I've only seen each one a couple times and read some of the cannon. But its always interesting to see how the good and evil changed feet so often, honestly Vader not only balanced things but he always fulfilled the rule of two, if he'd of survived the encounter.
@ashenbreese5 ай бұрын
@@meccawood7180 can't tell we are scar fans. 😆 funny you mention the role reversal because that happened in eu during the era in question as well. it was called the battle of ruusan and the jedi became a militant "army of light" and the sith became the "brotherhood of darkness" essentially working together. it is one of the "lightest" eras of the sith; and darkest of the jedi.
@meccawood71805 ай бұрын
I won't disagree but Ill add that I can't see a much darker era for the Jedi than their extermination, which like basically enabled, he was like the last real Jedi, or tried to be, after that there's just good guys and sith XD and I've a feeling we haven't seen the last of the sith, I can't remember the comic or whatever it was I read but apparently there's a sith that stays away from everyone, definatly sith to the bone but he doesn't do the ppl thing or the rule of two, I think it was luke who discovered him, he was hunting holocrins after Vader's death, but found homeboy instead and couldn't rly do much with him so barely escaped with his hide, I don't know if it was cannon or not but I did read it XD i enjoy the hermicraft server as something to pass time. Scars just prone to accidents and mishaps and makes it more enjoyable, I also don't deal with ppl at all, internet is the extent of my socialization, hi early if it wasnt for my mutt I'd not even have a reason to use my voice. I've prolly only talked an actual 100 words the last month XD maybe 8p but I always enjoyed the laster star wars, I wasn't a fan of the first one with Anakin and qu-gon gins death, I rly liked the character and his opinions, he seems more rooted in being a Jedi than a lot of the council at the time. The council used every rule they could to their advantage and that rly could of been the beginning of the end for them, they went from to political to to militant and basically have sid exactly what he wanted. I'd if banished myself to dagibah to if I not only handed my worst enemy everything I held dear but also got whooped by that same said man after I tried to avenge it. I always wondered what Yoda rly thought he was going to accomplish by confronting sidous like that, even if he won the Jedi were finished, literally and figuratively. And he had to of known he couldn't kill sid. If anything you know he had doubts cause from what he knew sid dispatched not just 3 Jedi without breaking a sweat but killed mace windu which was a statement of not only his skill with a saber but his force powers. Yoda knew he had nothing to gain and that alone drove him to banish himself, after he failed and realized what he was doing he knew what he thought he was he wasn't. Hence the long banishment. I'm surprised he was only half crazy when like found him

32:52 The Jedi didn't merely "inquire" about children at a young age. They indoctrinated them into their faith, trained them to fight for the Jedi, and imposed strict rules forbidding personal connections, including having a spouse or children. That does sound like the actions of a cult, or at the very least, it has some troubling aspects.
@kharmachaos6675 ай бұрын
In older canon, that simply wasn't true. The Jedi DID ask the parents(if applicable) and they did NOT take the children if they didn't consent unless it was an abuse situation. But this is literally being retconned into what you believe of the jedi, scar is 100% correct.
@kharmachaos6675 ай бұрын
Amd even if the movies, one of the high council had multiple wives and children to keep his species alive. The jedi were originally portrayed as "misunderstood" in og canon on purpose- to carry the pr aspect of sidious's plot and to explain why many were happy the jedi were massacred. But disney is, ironically, using the exact same propaganda aspect as palpatine himself!
@Dewald5 ай бұрын
@@kharmachaos667 I thought that, according to the lore, Jedi used to be allowed to have significant others. However, this led to many strong emotions, and many Jedi turned to the Dark Side. As a result, the Jedi Council eventually outlawed marriage for Jedi.
@Jokie1555 ай бұрын
It boils down to the problems with misinterpreting Buddhism and also trying to patch over weird 70's writing in film, plus 30 odd years of many other writers and creators throwing their own takes into the mix. Unfortunately, it all comes out a jumbled mess, and the new generation of writers are going to be shaped by what came before, even if they're trying to start fresh.
@TheTrytix5 ай бұрын
Oh boy. Okay, so first thing first, new Canon is here to stay, no manner of whining will get the old way back. We will likely still be granted new canon versions of old Legends material still, just look at Thrawn and how respectfully he was handled. My point exactly. Either you can adapt to the change, or let the past consume you. According to canon that was even established before Disney took over, the Jedi DID indoctrinate children, babies often, into their order. Though it's become clear that they usually seem to have done this with consent, as seen in the Clone Wars arc involving Cad Bane kidnapping such force sensitive children, or the whole arc with Jar Jar and Windu, where the Bardottans LITERALLY forbid the Jedi from getting their hands on their force sensitive children, because they viewed the Jedi as ACTUAL kidnappers, and quite frankly, it wasn't far off either. The thing is, a lot of the galaxy's population were usually quite positive to the Jedi. If they had a child that showed potential in the force, it could often times be a bittersweet moment for the parrens of the child, as it would bring their family great honor often, if their child grew up to become a Jedi. And yes, the Jedi were becoming overconfident, flawed over time, which Sidious absolutely used against them. So the fact that the Jedi in the High Republic is shown to be flawed, yet still quite competent, is both logical, AND it respects canon continuity. So I honestly have no clue what people are so pissed about. I feel like most anger for the Acolyte ONLY stems from it's connection to the High Republic. Many fans believed the High Republic was Disney's attempt at replacing the Old Republic, which was never the case. One takes place 200-100 years before the movies and the other takes place 5000-1000 years before the movies, they won't interfere with each other at all, no worries. But hey, when someones has decided on something, if they are stubborn enough, they will just keep hating stuff JUST to be proven right, and I feel like THAT is where most of the hate for the Acolyte comes from. Just inability to move on and be open minded.

It's not really a new trend at all. Over two decades ago Knights of the Old Republic made use of similar ideas regarding flaws in their ideology and the order's failings as an institution. Ignoring the Expanded Universe, the Jedi Order weren't corrupted by Palpatine. Lucas himself wanted to depict in the prequels that as an organization they had become complacent and stuck-in-their-ways which blinded them to threats both within and without. They had become too entrenched in the political workings of the galaxy while still attempting to stay aloof. Two things which can't be done at the same time. Palpatine took advantage of their institutional malaise (while still having significant position/status) and exploited their inability to be more proactive. So that in the end, when finally forced to act, it was rash and reactive in a way that played into his plans.

Ronald D Moore's Battlestar Galactica couldn't be more different in tone, approach, themes etc from Glen A Larson's Battlestar Galactica. I still enjoy both, because both are a reflection of the time they were made in, of the people who crafted these two shows. While I understand the sentiment of upholding the original creator's vision, people are ultimately allowed to take things in their own direction, to leave their own mark on a work. People don't go and 'make their own thing' nearly as often, because the majority of audiences aren't looking for thousands of segmented little takes that are vaguely similar to each other. People want to collect together, and for a franchise that's been going on close to 50 years, it's quite literally inevitable that things will continue to branch out and diversify more and more. It's iterating and building upon what's already there. It's entirely valid to not enjoy a given work. But I feel like so often, there's a sense of entitlement and 'ownership' over a larger work that gets in the way of the personal view. And that's when we get creators being harassed and attacked, just for doing their own thing. And that's just so much worse than even pure corprate mandated shovelware could possibly be.

The jedi being flawed isn't recent Star Wars though; that was the case in the prequels as well. The order failed because the Jedi had lost their way and fallen out of balance with the force. That was key to Palpatine's and Vader's rise to power. This was shown in TCW and in other materials. They were only able to be corrupted by Palpatine because they were so lost in their ways and so arrogant

I wish i had gotten to watch this stream live because I do have a lot to say about the Jedi, Star Wars, and the EU. Firetly as much as i do agree that the jedi began as fundamentally good thwre have always been instances and cracks in them, even sometimes leading to new sith orders rising inside of them. I also beleive that whateber this group of jedi did they did fundamentally believe they were doing the right thing. Revan and Malak rose from the old republic jedi order and when the order refused to stand up for the planets being decimated by the mandolorians they "fell" but revans fall didnt last forever, he eventually realized the flaw with the jedi is beleiving any one with power could be fundemantally good. He learned to balance the force. Most sith lords before the rule of two had some sort of jedi training. I think assuming these jedi went there to stral a child under the orders of the councik is unlikely, unless they beleived her to be the chosen one of the prophecy and even the council had fundamental issues. Even Qui-gon knew that the prder was corrupt and incapable when his first apprentice fell. This has been lore since at least 2001. The old republic had pacifist Jedi and when the the madalorians began their slaughter, it lead a lot of Jedi away from that, which caused the Jedi civil War with Malak at its head and the new Sith empire founding in direct conflict with their former jedi counterparts. After the defeat of Malak the jedi become more of a police force during the high republic, agreeing with some of the tenets of guardianship over pacifism.during the hundred year downfall of the republic the Jedi went back to their pacifist way for the most part. This is their flaw. Not curruption, but rather misunderstanding balance.

I haven't been keeping up with the new Star Wars stuff so I don't know about any kidnapping children thing, but I do want to add my two cents when it comes to the Jedi and kids. I think it's really sus that a Jedi has to start training super young, to the point where *nine years old* is "too old." It reminds me of stories I've heard about Christian churches taking in Jewish kids during the holocaust specifically because they figured if they could convert them to Christianity if they were young enough (the phrase I remember from those stories is "give me a child until he's seven and I will own him for life.") I think there's something to be said about the Jedi's practices about indoctrinating kids that young, BUT I think if it was going to be addressed, it should have been address *during Anakin's arc*. Anakin's killing the younglings would then turn from "oh look how much of a monster he is" to a morally very dark gray if he was killing kids who he believed had been brainwashed by the Jedi, whether it was true or not. They could have easily put Palpatine telling Anakin stuff like that to corrupt Anakin's view of the Jedi and make his "from my perspective the Jedi are evil" thing make a lot more sense. Honestly I think the prequels/Anakin's arc had a lot of missed opportunities like that. They had Anakin start his life as a slave and then had that not really impact him going forward, they had slavery still existing on Tatooine without the Jedi or the Senate doing anything about it (at least one of the book adaptations of Phantom Menace hinted that once Anakin becomes Vader, he goes back to Tatooine and frees the slaves, which would have been an interesting thing for them to play with, but no), etc. I actually read a fanfic that pointed out that from the moment he was born to moments before his death, Anakin always had someone he referred to as "Master" - first as a slave, then as a Jedi, then as a Sith - and I just remember sitting there reading that and thinking, "holy crap, that's true, wtf." The prequels felt like they were supposed to be set up as a character study of Anakin's fall to the dark side - I think Lucas even said in an interview years before they were released that that was the intent - but they really fell short of getting into how Anakin's background and Palpatine's influence and the Jedi's shortcomings really created a perfect storm to create Darth Vader.

i always thought whit the prophecy of anakin bringing balance back to the force very literal it wasn't in balance way to much light force and not enough dark what did the jedi think needed to be balanced ?
@automaticdata5 ай бұрын
@@t84t748748t6 Yeah, he literally brought it to two Sith + two Jedi, and then when the light side came back it was through Luke, who was much less strict on the purging all negative emotions thing (and started his training ~16 years old). Personally, I feel like the Jedi may have gone too far in the light direction. There's a video game series I used to really like which has the quote "the closer you get to the light, the larger your shadow becomes," and I think that kind of gets into the whole balance thing with Anakin - the jedi were very very close to the light, to the point where a nine year old was "too old" to train, and the sith were equally pretty far on the dark side, but there were less of them. Anakin brought balance first by bringing the overly light Jedi and the overly dark Sith to 2v2, and then by eliminating both the overly light and the overly dark entirely, leaving just Luke, who represented a new balance which wasn't too close to one side or the other.

The Jedi committed so many war crimes during the clone wars buddy XD they spread their selfs to think and wandered to far from their center. The Jedi liked to believe ppl respected them but only those in the know rly, as a civilian a Jedi is horrifying XD

I'm not a Star Wars person and I have no investment in The Acolyte being good or bad, but haven't the Jedi been "looking bad" for at least 20 years since the prequels? I think Scar might have some rose colored glasses here because trying to say they aren't flawed at the very least is wild. If Scar got his way with "Make your own content, stop making changes" there would be no star wars content after the prequels because "They're good guys" is boring, and doesn't work when there's more than three jedi a la the OT. The Jedi were religious warriors playing bureacratic government, they were definitely doing war crimes.

"If there's Jedi out there committing warcrimes or something" Did you mean: The Clone Wars (2008)? Also i don't have much of an issue with Jedi going around arresting someone who's attacking Jedi and people involved. Lightsabers are only for defense, not attacking (until you're faced with thousands of battledroids).

Also for Jedi 'kidnapping kids' the exact opposite is established by TCW, particularly the arc where Cad Bane steals a holocron to kidnap force sensitive babies. Even Bane talks up how good of a life the baby could have if it goes with him at first, probably implying that is the norm for jedi.
