Aaron and Luke both got new FN Scar17's. They are on the hunt for the right optic for their needs. Both try out the 1-8 Trijicon Accupower and the 1-8 Vortex Strike Eagle. What optic do you think should go on this rifle?

Trijicon Vcog is what I went with on my SCAR. That thing's a beast.

LoserJJA79 the VCOG is great. I have one as well as the the 1-8 accupower. If they have brightness like the 1-8 accupowers on the new moa/mil VCOG’s that would be a great optic.

Used to run an S&B Shortdot CC 1-8x24 with Zero Power mode - served me well for a few years, but found that the red-dot mode just wasn't used as much with this Battle Rifle setup - and switched that over to one of my AR DMR setups. Then I tried the newer (and cheaper) Primary Arms Platinum 1-8x24 with the ACSS Reticle and actually prefer it over the Schmidt on my 17S, 13" Suppressed for medium range and short range. Plus it's 1/3 the cost! Wouldn't consider less than 1-8x24, and usually, I prefer as much glass as I can get on anything - especially a 7.62x51MM - expecting targets out past 400-500M with this rifle. In Long-Range Setup (20" Suppressed Barrel), shooting M118LR rounds - I have had as much glass as a 5-25x34 PMII Schmidt with Tremor2 on my 17S before with outstanding results out past 900M even though it's really only rated out to 800M.

Does the trijicon 1-6 come with a mount? Does it hold up to the scar 17? I been using irons for a year now,always heard the 17 destroyed optics

tomglpn I’ve heard the “17 destroys optics” many times. However, the range we work at has a Scar17 that’s had a Strike Eagle on it for a year with thousands of rounds through it and the strike eagle is perfectly fine. This Accupower 1-8 does not come with a mount

Elcan specterdr 1.5-6x sight it in at 100 meters and your good to go up to 600 yards havent tried it any farther

g A yeah the elcan would be cool to try. How is the weight on it?

@@yambo9822 honestly i picked up the optic out the box and thought it was too heavy but once its mounted it feels well balanced the only thing is the elcan hits the back up sight if it has the flip up covers so if you do buy it save the money and dont buy the flip up covers get the bikini style ones instead i was worried about the weight but its well worth it i think its about 1lb 3oz

@@yambo9822 it weighs 3g less than the Trijicon. I run a 1-8 Accupower on my scar and love it. The extra 4mm pick up soo much more light than the regular LPVOs, its insane. But the Accupower does need a mount that will add a few oz.

hazard1024 yeah see I did realize how much I loved the features on the Accupower until I started looking at new optics and realized they don’t have the same. I need a FFP and Tactical turrets and a thin reticle. I’m not trying to rush into anything though

Have you tried adjusting the focus ring on the back of the strike eagle? I noticed my 1-6 had similar issues until I focused it for my eyes

Blackcloudr1 1 we messed with it for awhile. When we were at 300 shooting steel it worked much better but part of that could have been from shooting at steel not a detailed target
