Something interesting I noticed: In the EN dub, Scara sounds sad and remorseful at the beginning of his backstory, which slowly turns into anger. This also applies to KR dub to some extent. JP dub makes him sound like he's angry and resentful throughout the whole thing. CN dub Scaramouche sounds like he's hiding his emotions, like other commenters mentioned. Somehow, all of these dubs fit Scaramouche's character really well.

I kinda always into the Japanese dub because they’re so into character when they voicing them!. 진짜 원신은 4개 더빙 다 잘 내놔서.. 다 좋긴한데 개인적으로 한국이랑 일본이 내가 생각하는 스카라무슈랑 캐릭터가 잘 일치했고 이 컷씬에서 원했던 연기를 보여준거같음. 무언가의 다짐 이후 자신의 분노와 슬픔, 배신감, 고통 등에 휘둘리려하지 않으면서도, 자신의 과거를 맞닥뜨리게 된 순간 억눌렀지만 조금씩 새어나오는 과거의 감정들과 지금의 새로운 감정이 함께 느껴지는 그런 느낌을 원했어서.. 특히 5:27 여기가 너무 좋았음 그냥 스카 그 잡채.. 영어는 뭔가 방랑자 시절의 스카부터 지금의 스카를 보여주면서 목소리가 그 변화를 따라가는 느낌이라 흥미로웠고, 중국은 가장 자신의 과거에 대해 어느정도 해탈하고 받아들인 느낌이랄까 감정을 크게 드러내지 않는 느낌이라 색달랐음.

And also as a CN dub main and also a Chinese speaker myself, this cutscene's CN dub in my minds actually comes more with furious and a bit sadness, and yes there is a bit "emotion hiding" but not much edit: Ah I was watching Bilibili and I found someone said CN Scaramouche is "hating", yeah that's what actually I want to say, I some how forgot that word🤣

my personal favourite moments of the voices in all the dubs! [ENGLISH] 0:22 - the way he says "my mother" with such lonely bitterness and resentment legitimately makes me feel chills. he sounds so genuinely heartbroken that really speaks to his character and how his lore has affected him 0:37 - the way he says "family" in a light tone and how that melts to a cold respite when he says "my friend" AND with the breathy pause between the words, really gives the feeling of how with this betrayal, his pain morphs into a spiteful resentment 0:53 - his tone here is so much more light and it sounds a lot like he's reminiscent of his memories with this boy, but when he says "a fledgling barely out of the nest" his voice steadily shifts to a melancholic scornful tone really attributes to how much his emotions have affected him 1:08 - here, he sounds almost like a kid who's throwing a fit over a broken promise, full of petulance. i thought this was interesting, because it gives the impression that despite everything that he has been through and all that he's done and learned, his emotional maturity is still lacking [CHINESE] 2:53 - the whole dub is super consistent with his tone being wholly more angry and vengeful, and this part in particular is just dripping in spite and resentment 3:17 - his voice here takes on a much darker tone and it really makes it sound like this was last straw for him in how much rage and icy hate is in his voice [KOREAN] 4:16 - his tone right from the start is almost carefree sounding, like he's simply casually talking in a passive manner, which really reflects a certain feeling of just spiteful apathy, and how after all he's experienced, he cannot possibly be bothered to care anymore 5:24 - the bitterness in his voice spikes up especially here, and the tremble in his delivery really serves to show just how much it hurt him, and that this was his final straw. 6:04 - this is probably the most genuinely maniacal sounding laugh, and it really solidifies the feeling that this scaramouche is just so malevolent and uncaring [JAPANESE] 6:59 - the way his voice shifts from airy and almost reminiscent when he says "my family" to colder and far less expressive voice when saying "my friend" the way his voice he entire scene was so calmly sinister was great

amazing performances i think his cn voice suits him the best. he sounds like he's trying to hide his emotions which makes sense, but you can feel he does care and it hurts him. in en instead he sounds very emotional, it's almost painful to listen to (my 2nd favorite). the jp version is probably my least favorite, the va does a great job (his laugh is so cool lol) i just feel like it doesn't really suit his character. kr feels like kind of a mix of the other three, at times he sounds serious and more subtle like in cn, sometimes more emotional like in en, but also has that edge of craziness from the jp. he also sounds pretty angry. this was such a cool cutscene idk why i wrote this when other people have probably already said the same things

i feel like a lot of nuance is lost when you don't actually know how to interpret the tonal rise and fall of a language, which is why so many people feel like the CN ver. is holding something back, but to CN-speakers, like me, he literally sounds like he's about to bludgeon you to death? like he says, "my family, my friend," sarcastically and he sounds super bitter for the rest of it.

I hear the sheer loathing of everything too. He sounds so full of hate. Though I do understand how it seems like he's suppressing emotions, even though he's so angry it makes him laugh. There are moments his voice seems almost gentle before it quickly shifts into rage. The voice acting is very nuanced though. There are moments of barely suppressed hatred, sardonic laughter, and almost gentleness that turns into mocking of himself and the state of the world. Though I definitely agree, as a CN speaker my first impression was wow he's scary, he sounds he's gonna explode on me.

Bruh... the CN one gave me goosebumps!!! IT'S SO GOOD!!! For me, it really fits and captures Scaramouche personality as a puppet. He sounded dead but still has some human emotions within him. The way you can hear how he is like about to explode but he stops himself... I can really feel the hate, the loathe, the disappointment in his voice... oh gosh 😭 My 2nd fav is the EN! It shows the emotions more so there's no need to read in between the lines or tones of speaking like that because he put his emotions out on the table immediately. And I think most ppl will like that since the emotions are easier to understand. My 3rd is the KR! The rollercoaster of emotions is just so good. It's like he is about to lose it but he ain't gonna because he still needs to do his revenge lolol. My last is the JP. I really love his VA but sadly I can't really feel Scaramouche's personality huhu. He sounded yandere. But the voice is still done so well tho! I still like it! Hehe. Anyways, this is just my own opinions okie. Everyone has different preferences afterall. ☺️

I think EN and CN are my favorites right now for different reasons. EN probably because I'm fluent in it so it does sound more natural in my brain but also I'm in love with how the VA voices Scara like that's my boy!! Chinese although I'm not even 1% fluent the voice feels so full of anger and pure loathing it definitely matches with him as it should it's the original one. For korean and Japanese I think I can put them in the same level? still pretty good!! I wonder how he would sound as a playable character I have a feeling I might enjoy his Japanese voice a bit better for that.

Personally, my favorite is the EN version, I think it's a great transition from pain, sadness, and disapointment, to rage and resentment, which fits perfectly to the order of events and the cinematic. They way he says "My mother" just heartreaking. And then "humans... They can't be trusted", sounding a bit evil already. AMAZING. Also, I love all the crazy villian laughters but in that one, the JA one is my favorite.

Hearing the cn voice over for the second time made me realize that we actually speak the same way.. Sometimes haha.. Anyways like what other people said he did suppress his emotions but the thing is he "tried" i listened to the voice more clearly on the second time.. He wavers and he immediately ends his words before his own voice shake.. He's gotta be inhaling a lot to calm himself. He sounds like he doesn't care really but he's.. here's my opinion on the laughs: eng: the sliver of sanity he had left is now dissolved, and he sounds rather indifferent about it, like he wants to lose his sanity jp: resentful, almost like he enjoys feeling this way cn: it's a calm laugh, almost like he's hiding his true intentions kr: laugh sounds so spiteful and unforgiving, he holds no remorse for the pain and suffering he's caused, and is about to cause GRRRRR ALL OF THEM SOUND AMAZING

I love EN's fragility. Because this is a narration in his mind, I like that you finally get to see that from him. CN's laugh is my favorite, you can really feel the pain through it despite it being laughter... A pitiful laugh who's purpose is to hide sorrow. KR's tone of voice itself is so beautiful in general. Each delivery has slightly different flavors but are all still true to canon. Scaramouche is one of the few Genshin characters who sounds good in all languages. My personal ranking would be CN/KR > EN/JP but it's not that big of a difference.

Personally i find KR dub the best and fitting his chracter, because: EN dub showing too much emotion for someone like him, i kinda expect a voice to tell his story in more plain tones, since he already stated he wants to erease his emotions and let the his pain guide him. JP dub is good too, but it’s way too angry, I feel like Scara is no longer feels that much anger for the ones who betrayed him, he’s consumed by (most likely) Dottore’s schemes and he only wants to destroys weaks And CN dub shows literally so little emotion, (is still good though) I only compared their acting for Scara’s characters, all of them did great job, just i think four of them showed different characters

It's JP for me. The range he has is insane. Also that laugh. Second is CN, I honestly think the performance is equal, but I just personally prefer the JP voice, that one really comes down to preference. KR is third, the emotions in the last part are portrayed really well. EN, although really amazing, gets the last place for me. It's a little too whispery and the timing seems a little off sometimes.

He is playful in his insane way and mock everything human and that makes him repugnant.
