Mary and I often nip down to the beach when the weather is rough because it is amazing to see nature in its full force. The day of this storm started in the early hours with the 1st tide of the day - something like 5am. Dark and cold but what we saw was worth getting up for! As the day went on the storm increased and so we went back to get more footage. My footage along with footage captured on phones by some of the members of our group make this a very interesting account of just how much a day can change when living by the sea. The next morning the sun came out and a big clean up was underway but apart from the damage to the foreshore and proms you look at the sea and how calm it is and hard to imagine that just a few hours earlier is was this raging angry mass of water.

Long ago we had a great holiday in Scarborough, our first time there. One day the weather was stormy and we parked on Marine Drive facing the sea, watching the waves thunder in and break over the sea wall, the spray landing on our car. Thrilling. Another vehicle drew in beside us and there was a tap on the spray-covered window. It was a police car. Are you enjoying the sea, Sir? Yes!. Well if I were you I'd move. High tide is not for another hour. Thank you very much, officer.
