even more since its essentially just a more modern 75mm field gun, like france was already fielding en masse well before WW1...

I see the benefit of this cannon as lighter and just as potent as the Pak 40.
@Br1cht11 ай бұрын
It wasn’t as effective as the Pak40, I recommend Ian V. Hogg’s “Artillery of WWII” if you want a real Academic work instead of diverse KZbin/Wiki stuff, if you want lighter than the pak40 but comparable effectiveness(possibly better)you’d better check out the Resita(Romania) but that one never went into full production .
@magisterrleth312911 ай бұрын
Not quite, the Pak 40 had over 150 m/s more muzzle velocity at 776 compared to the Modello 37's 624.
@jon-paulfilkins782011 ай бұрын
As others have pointed out, not as powerful, probably falling half way between the PaK 38 and PaK 40, defiantly the asset Italian anti-tank units wanted arriving in numbers in late 41/mid 42 for dealing with Sherman's and the like. Just like the tragedy of other Italian armaments in ww2, too few, too late, a generation in capability behind what the allied troops were receiving at the same time.

This was not a specialized AT gun like PaKs. ZiS-3 76,2mm, QF 25-pounder seem similar. The closest gun Germans used was 10,5 cm K 18. And Germans didnt need lighter crappier guns cause every division had a shitload of both Pak 40 and 10,5 cm K 18. Watch this video to see how much more and heavier guns did a German division had compared to an Italian: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6LSgJ5ro794gdk

@@Br1chtthe Reșița 75mm was put into full production and had a long life in the Romanian army. The tank that was meant to mount the gun, the Mareșal, was the one that only made it to pre production.

Do you have any information or sources of this cannon's and 75/34 cannon's armour penetration values?
@@TanksEncyclopediaYT Thanks dude. If those figures are believed, then 75/32 should be able to reliably defeat T-34 front armour only with the latest HEAT ammunition. Was this and earlier HEAT ammo so available, that Italian troops could use against their 75mm guns effectively against Soviet tanks, or were mentioned succeses against armoured vechicles achieved against earlier Russian tanks, like BT-7 and T-26?

So they took THIRTY YEARS to make something roughly equal to the Canon de 75 modèle 1897 they could have bought anywhere in Europe after WW1?
@jevinliu465811 ай бұрын
No, because the carriage is 300 kg lighter, fires 120 m/s faster, and has 4500 meters more range The Italians did have similar guns in WWI, namely all of the 75/27 field guns
@lllordllloyd8 ай бұрын
@@jevinliu4658 Not disagreeing it was an improvement, but a carriage offering elevation to 45, rather than 18, degrees must accoiunt for a lot of that extra range. It seems like a pretty modest improvement over the original 1897.
