On a lighter note of waking up parents as a little kid- My mom was a nurse, so she slept hard. One morning, real early because i had school, i woke up and checked under my pillow only to find my baby tooth was still there. I took my little tooth and went to my mom, asking why the tooth fairy hadn't come. She was half asleep and said groggily that she forgot and would get me some cash later. A beat later she woke up and had to console me that the tooth fairy was not real. 😂

My family moved when I was 6 and I had to walk down a long hallway past the entire house to get to my parents room. It was freaking long hallway with windows and the garden made creepy shadows on the walls and ceiling. I would run full speed in socks on linoleum floors and smack into my parent’s locked bedroom door. Must have scared the crap out of them.

I saw a documentary about the making of The Shining - the Kubrick version. They explained that the story is not at all supernatural or paranormal. The scenes where Jack is losing his mind and doing crazy stuff are all imagine or hallucinated by his wife, who has the actual mental illness. It was a masterful deception by Kubrick. It made Jack the monster, when the real horror wasn't the paranormal stuff his wife was hallucinating, but the murders and abuse of their son that she was actually doing the entire time. The funniest thing I got from the whole documentary was how freaked out I was that I watched the movielike 30 years before, and never realized the hidden movie inside the movie. It was as wild, cool, and interesting as I could have wanted.
@miabuz22 күн бұрын
I watched it again after a tik tok or short said that. I just don’t see it. I read the book, both are great takes on the story. In the book it is 100% the dad going insane and the hotel is definitely paranormal.

@@miabuz I wish I could tell you what documentary I watched, but I can't remember the title or anything. You'll have to just track it down. It was one guy narrating all the points of the movie that he chose to support his theory. It would be worth your time to find it and watch it. He does a thorough job of proving his point.

Let me preface my comment with I 1000% believe in the paranormal but I am going to slightly dispute the last story. Paranoid schizophrenics do possess super human strength when having an episode and I’ll give 2 examples. My grandmother was a paranoid schizophrenic, my grandfather and her owned a roller rink back in the 60’s. Once she got into it with a woman and had her sights set and fighting her, two huge security guards tried to stop her but she just kept trudging forward…in Rollerskates 😂 next she was holding a neighbors daughter “hostage” to coax her father over so she could unalive him (she was convinced he was an alien) of course he called the cops on her. My mom said a swat cop broke in and shouted “got ya” and my grandmother proceeded to reply “no I got you” and lifted this man off the ground and threw him across the room into a wall lmao. She was a petite woman as well. Don’t underestimate those suffering from mental illness 😅

We have taken in two of our grand sons, one of which isn't even ours, but he is the "companion kid" for our actual grand son, because boys are not sold separately. We got them 16 months ago, when the youngest one was only 6 He was like the old super balls from the 70s. All you had to do was let him get one good bounce in, and he was off, riccocheting off of everything for hours. He also had a real love of horror. Both boys were exposed to all manner of adult content since they were 3 years old. They're 18 months apart, and inseparable. One of the things they watched was The Shining (the kubrick version), the year before they came to live with us. Now we get the delightful task of deprogramming as much of that crap out of their undeveloped brains as we can. You can't, of course, but we try to innoculate them with "mental antibodies" of better things to think about. It's slowly working. But one of the things that stuck was the little kid from the movie popping up in the parents' room, with a finger, and saying "REDRUM..." in that rough, ominous creepy kid voice. So, the first few nights we had them here, the youngest one would get out of his bed and stand beside MY side of the bed, and wait for me to sense him. When I opened my eyes, he croaked, "redrum..." repeatedly, with the finger in the air, like a little puppet. Well, I got out of bed, woke up my wife, stripped the sheets off the bed, and changed my clothes after a shower. Then we "treated the kid's cough" with Benadryl, and put him to bed. I, however, did not go back to bed. I've been up ever since. Nothing is creepier than a little kid.

The Stanley Hotel is a little over an hour's drive from my house. It has a very creepy vibe but the only thing unexplained that happened to me there is when we went to dinner and the water glass exploded in the waitress's hands just before she set it in front of me. I don't know that it was supernatural or whether it was due to a flaw in the glass or the glass having just come out of the dishwasher and having ice water in it broke it. It was just weird is all.
