Few things in life have scarred me like the Grifter. I can handle gore and tons of heavy shit. Hell, I went on Bestgore as a 14 year old and my reaction was just meh. But this is just, hard to describe. It doesn’t affect me in the way like something scary or something like that does. More so, It’s just unsettling to the max. I'm actually glad you made a video on this When I was 12 or 10 years old I first watch that video It seemed creepy and disturbing and I was scared to walk down hallways, scared to open doors, and scared to be alone. along with the fears came reoccurring nightmares. Haha, I'm actually the_solipsist, the tripfig that started all this on /x/ in 2009. I can indeed confirm it is fake; it's something I did to troll while bored one late summer evening. Never imagined it would catch on like that, but I'm proud that it did. The funniest part for me is seeing how much was added to it and how much the details changed from how I originally described it. It was also interesting to see how dedicated people were to wanting to believe it was real, which was eye-opening for me since I knew with absolute certainty that it wasn't. Anyways, thanks for making this video, I enjoyed watching it!

The Grifter is just the modern-day equivalent of The King in Yellow, a fictional play said to drive people who read it insane or cause a horrible death to befall them. This play was used in an 1800's era short story collection by the same name, written by Robert W. Chambers; it's commonly said that those who read the play find it "beautiful but terrible" or "unbelievably disturbing", a lot like The Grifter here. We want to believe, I guess... but my point is that this kind of fiction or hoax thing is not uncommon and is part of a long tradition of horror storytelling, actually. I'm not surprised it's made the jump to the internet.

Our house has a ghost, the old owners aunts ashes were buried in the tree in the front yard next to my brothers room. we cut the tree awhile after we got the house not knowing. we expirenced lights flickering fans turning off and voices most in his room. in my room next door when you leave you feel a breeze and then a warm toutch. Then one day the old owner drove by and noticed the tree gone. He said my aunts ashes were buried there and after that its just down low
