My parents brought me to the US.. In 1980 I was only six years old and I was on the Mariel Boatlift.. my dad is a political prisoner from Cuba.. he went to prison when he was 15 years old his only crime was wanting to come to the 🇺🇸 United States.. he was only a kid he served five years in a Cuban prison.. Then in 1980..he got his wish.. Great reaction brother.. much love and respect from MIAMI 305🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸..

Many criminals here in Italy love this movie. There Is a villa in Casal di Principe (CE), built by a boss of the Schiavone clan, one of the most powerful neapolitans' mafia family (camorra) that looks EXACTLY (the hall, i mean, with the two staircases on the right & on the left, the swimmimg pool in the middle etc.) like Tony Montana's house. I think it's about the hunger for the Power & for the money & the fearless attitude, i don't know.

Besides the "Godfather" trilogy, "Good Fellas" and "King of NY" one of the best and most influential Gangster films of all time - GTA Vice City was heavily inspired by this flick and I cannot count how often I heard mentions of "Scarface" in rap songs

Have you seen the cop drama "Miami Vice" (1984-1989)? A lot of the style of Scarface rubbed off on "Vice" for sure. It was "appointment television" in the mid 80s. Even my dad the lawyer liked it.

Whenever reactors think of Al Pacino , they go straight to " Scarface " or " The Godfather ". Although they never react to his other movies like : Sea Of Love - Dog Day Afternoon - Cruising - Serpico - And Justice For All. Those are worth watching

Question, was Omar really an informer? Or did Sosa just kill him to get him out of the way and deal with Tony? Seems to me Sosa just wanted Omar out of the way so he can make more deals with someone representing Frank.

Both are true. I mean if they wanted him dead, they didn't need to fake the phone call and stuff. They could have simply have him killed the moment he arrived. There's no proof that Omar was, in fact, an informant, but it makes sense that they investigated them, found out he was, and then decided to kill him. Frank Lopez wasn't too bothered about it either, he was actually more concerned about montana doing business on his own and backstabbing him. (And you know how that went). The body language, the attitude, and the fact that he most likely crossed tony at the drug deal gone wrong, it makes perfect sense to assume that he was an informant, or at the very least a dishonest criminal that couldn't be trusted.

Years ago, I worked with a guy who was a Cuban political prisoner and former military. He came over when Castro emptied the prisons in the early 80's. That was one of the nicest guy you'll ever meet, but he a this aura that was, I don't know how describe it, was intimidating/scary. He was fearless. Interesting guy to talk to!

Eh, anyone who had a criminal record in Cuba, maybe they just stole food. That's the type of thing that would have to be investigated. I'm not for just letting anyone in but Cubans have it pretty bad. Check out each individual and give them a chance, while keeping an eye on them for a while (anyone from anywhere), or not, based on what they actually did.

I do have to wonder why they chose an Italian American to play a Cuban. Edit: Oh, and a total white guy all tanned up. Good gosh! (I can't remember the guy's character or real name.) Edit 2: Ok, sorry, he's of Italian heritage too (still not Hispanic), but he's way lighter and looks totally white, white in other films. Lol! Sorry. Thought he was like Irish or something. PACINO is the greatest. This performance is legendary and the film is cinematic gold. One of the most re-watchable classics ever. If you liked this, check out 1993's Carlito's Way. Also directed by the great Brian DePalma, who directed Scarface. Plus, it stars Pacino as a Porter Rican gangster. Highly recommend it.
