Part of me wishes Luis became a recurring character in the franchise, but it made sense he is both introduced and dies in RE3. He was the little boy talked about in the hunter’s journal in the cabin near the start of the game, his grandfather was the hunter and raised him after his mother died during childbirth. He was born and raised in the village, he worked for Umbrella, he worked for the Illuminados. He had many regrets and tried to make up for them, which I believe he did in the end. The remake did a fantastic job at giving Luis more personality and involvement in the game, his death was also done better and was more meaningful. RIP the legend, Luis Serra Navarro. ❤

Luis is the only one apart from saddler who knows how to get rid of the plagas and has the suppression medication (also in original RE4 we see that he also has the plaga sample for evidence) so he saddler had every motive to end him. Don't know if it's worth mentioning but when you're putting in the gemstones pressing shift shows you the different bonuses you can get for different combinations of gems. So like 1:51:34 when he mentions that the crown won't sell for more, you can actually sell it for quite a bit more depending on the bonus.

So fun fact: About freezing the Verdugo: He is just very fast and can take alot of damage. So freezing him helps at least because he doesn't dodge or counter attack. Not sure if he takes more damage as well. I think it is sad that you don`t see Salazar merge with the second Verdugo though. It kind of explained where it went in the original (unless it appears later on in the remake, but I don`t know) Besides that: I think Ada feels colder compared to the original. While she didn`t outright help Leon, you always have the feeling she actually does care about him. In this one at least to me it felt way less. But besides that: I liked the design of Salazar, he still is funny and annoying, but actually doesn`t look like a mere child. That one is obviously subjective though. Ashley and Luis in my opinion are way better though. Luis obviously has way more time to show some of his character in the first place, and Ashley is way more likeable. She does act more like an adult, while still obviously being afraid and overwhelmed with the situation (which is 100% understandable). She also warms up to Leon, their banter and interactions are pretty well done. And she does pull her weight a bit more in this one, which also makes her more likeable. Overall its not like they changed tons of things, but the things they changed in my opinion really work well. Improving an already great game is not easy and they did it (similar to RE2 and the Dead Space remake in my opinion). What was odd to me was that they feed Ashley the black water. At least according to the stuff you find in the game, that is what made the insect creatures. But they wanted to use her as the daughter of the president to take over America, I don`t think it works well if an insect-human thing suddenly appears. Unless I missed something. Felt more logical in the original that they placed a plaga in her, so she still looks human, sent her back while being under the control of the plaga. But the whole section and the ritual is such a great scene together with the voice acting that I have to admit I do want them in the game. Until then I really liked her as a character enough that I WANTED to save her, and hearing the screams, the terror in her voice works really well in that regard. Sidenote: "It won't sell for that much more" - and here I am thinking: Yeah 5 different colored gems will make the crown sell for 100000... you got 69000 - that is quite the difference
