This game is very interesting on how it shows you schizophrenia, once I was sleeping over with my schizophrenic friend in 8th grade. He woke me up and was very frightened pointing at the hallway saying there is a demon, I had to remind him multiple times that night he was schizophrenic

when i was younger i watched a lot of csi shows with my mom at night and i had a real fear of this too. I would constantly be thinking about how a random stranger could break in at any moment and hurt me or my family. Actually hearing someone say that in my ear (I had headphones in) triggered my paranoia and I started rushing around the house whenever I got up because I believed that spirits were following me or behind me Edit: it caused an episode, had a freak out and believed that there were bugs in my hand and tried to claw them out.

I have schizophrenia, but before I developed that I had excessive paranoia just like you, but I somehow cured it so I had almost no paranoia, just a little bit. But seeing the mannequin appear to move after a whisper saying that they are out to get me, made me scream in my insides for caseoh did not look back at it if it was coming for him.

This is actually pretty interesting, my girlfriend has Schizophrenia and has described some of her hallucinations to be tall faceless victorian women following her, and sometimes small rats dancing in circles ANYWAY. This game looks pretty neat, i might show this to my girlfriend to see if its somewhat accurate experience wise (she loves horror)

To be honest, Im not sure if this is what schitz actually is like... I asked my uncle a long time ago (who is a functioning schitz) and he talked about shadow people, burned and morphed faces, and voices of violence... It seems accurate relatively on the mannequins texture and them appearing unpredictably and uncontrollably... I would assume its close, but dont want to show my family this game in fear of sparking an episode. Is there anyone that can has it, who can confirm or deny how close this is to actual schitz? I would assume its different per person with some similarities... although every one that I have met has said almost the EXACT same thing...

Hi it’s been 4 months since the last comments but I also have anxiety and I was given some psychosis meds because for years i kept hearing someone calling my name and then when i had a manic episode I started seeing small weird looking shapes dancing and laughing and I honestly dont remember how it started and ended. Sometimes i see “ghosts” and when i told my psychiatrist that i see ghosts she laughed and gave me a harder dosage lol. Anyway this is the first time in my entire life i keep getting goosebumps because of how scary this game is

I think you should have added a disclaimer about schizophrenia. It often goes undiagnosed, or mistreated. Early diagnosis is best before a complete mental break. Schizophrenia will often show symptoms in teenage years, and will then lay dormant until around the age of 22. Be aware of family medical history as a predisposition to it is something you will want to know about as drastic life changing events can cause symptoms. Paranoia is usually severe and cause very real delusions. Visual hallucinations do not happen in most cases, but auditory do. Know what your internal voice sounds like. You SHOULD NOT be hearing anything externally. Delusions of grandeur, seeking hidden messages in reading material, radio, or television are all signs of schizophrenia. If you have any symptoms of schizophrenia please seek medical attention. The people at the hospital are your friends and they will help you. Do not try to self medicate. The drugs and alcohol are just another way for them to control your mind.

yeah. as a schizophrenic i think this a great illustration of what it's like! the distortion of reality, the voices, the delusions.. and the inclusion of paintings/drawings by actual schizophrenics were amazing, really well done. it's hard to explain what it's like to people who don't suffer with it, but visual mediums like this help. I agree, with the final sentiment that the game passed, that finding the right medication is vital.
