Paul seems like the most genuine, kind-hearted, and passionate guy who loves being goofy and appreciates what he has. My favorite guitar personality by far.

i was practicing for the last two weeks in quarantine like a madman, and i made some decent progress. thought i became fast an accurate, but watching this, Paul just effortlessly thrashing through those notes with unparallelled speed and accuracy just brought me back to reality. this guys skill is from another world, yet he's so humble about it. what a personality, what a legend.
@georgiethumbs24384 жыл бұрын
If you seen his other videos, he says he used a metronome and slowly increased the speed. I can totally vouch for that. A metronome gives your brain a goal and your brain figures out how to play it faster and faster to match the metronome.

Paul Gilbert. In my opinion, he got it right. Of all the shredders, he got it right. A band + Great songwriting + Shred = The Perfect Combination. I am not going to name names but I am not always in the mood for instrumental masterpieces. When my favorite shredders found themselves in a band situations I believe they were at their best. Vai/Roth, Moore/UFO, etc. Songs. Great songs!! Collaboration. I have to be in the mood for instrumental masterpieces. Just my humble opinion.

IMHO only few rock guitarists can play so fast over different scales/modes: MABatio, Yngwie M., Steve Morse and Steve Vai and Satriani. Ofc, speed is not goal itself, it's useful if music or melody requires speed. On the other hand fast playing guitarsts have more "mental time" while playing slower to articulate more precise and better than others. It's also proof of technical profficiency as a result of thousands of hours of practices beside predispositions/talent
