I think the best thing I have ever heard you say, horses live for 30 years there's no rush in training them. I have a QH that turned 4 in August, he's not broke out yet. He's never bucked with a saddle on, he will never have a bit in his mouth (thanks to you), he's been sat on and didn't give a shit. You can do anything to him on the ground and he still comes running when I get home to get scratched. My horses can't thank you enough, and I can't thank you enough for giving them a better life. My mare has not had a bit in her mouth since I started watching you and she can't be happier!

You have helped me so much with my horse, he was a pain to catch, would rear while taking the bit and tightening the nose band and would need a really strong rider to simply just ride him, after I switched to a halter my 5 year old sister can ride him bareback, I just wanted to say thank you so much you have definitely made our life easier XD and I'm glad that I rather have a relationship with my horse through trust and pressure instead of pain and fear now (sorry if my English is terrible I'm Icelandic and 15 XD)

The catching thing is weird. People I know have to spend ages trying to catch their horses. I stand at the gate and call mine and he comes running, even if he knows it means lots of Dressage training. He likes hanging out with me. Going to shows and competitions is a day out together we both enjoy. I can't imagine making my horse do things against his will or owning a horse that didn't like me. I feel like we had a past life together. When I met him it was as if we already knew each other. I didn't have this feeling with any of the other horses I checked out.

Yep. Rick this was an asthma inhaler video. Thanks for such a good laugh. I have laughed till my stomach hurts. You are so good at stuff like this and at times even when you don't try to be. I was wondering just how well do your neighbors know you lol? Can you imagine someone not knowing you do videos first of all then seeing the chicken from hell although it is right pretty then watching you run from it and then being attacked. They would have to be cracking up but what thoughts afterward? This was just hilarious and i don't know when I've enjoyed anything more. We sincerely thank you. You are so good to do things like this and shareq with us. Poooor Buddy but I'm sure their reaction would have been a little more had they not heard and smelled you near. I've learned over the years that almost all animals are great at noticing things that we don't see or can even tell. So many don't pay attention to their animals pets or not. This was just so good and again we thank you. i cant wait to show my neighbor she is older even than me but loves your videos. She used to show horses and grew up on a farm and animals just were not to her as they have been to me. Your videos have made her want to ride again although thats not possible she has softened about horses especially. She has always been absolutely opposed to animal cruelty but horses were only about winning. She has always claimed responsibility for times she did not win however. She never blamed the horse. She showed 5 gaited American Saddlebreds and they were beautiful. It was during the 70s and early 80s when she showed. I've told before that i really don't think you realize just how broad your fan base is. Oh i almost forgot to say that owl video is one of the most beautiful things ive seen. The grace in the slow motion plus the pattern of the wings was unreal. Thanks for that also.

Horses are intelligent. This adds interest to their lives. I used to play with my horse like this. It's NOT mean. Also, this teaches a horse to get used to new things. This is how we train a horse to not flake out at everything new he sees. Say he was riding his horse in a parade. There's all kinds of noise, waving things, movement, a totally different environment that most horses aren't exposed to on a regular basis. If this horse wasn't exposed to this before, he might flake out and something terrible could happen. This really can be a matter of life and death. A flakey horse (one that freaks out over sudden unfamiliar movements/objects) is not preferred and could possibly get the rider and horse injured or even killed. So what this man is doing is what a GOOD, TRAINED horseman should do.

I like how you explained their ear movements. I always think the body language of a horse is like sign language. Basic movements such as pinned ears is like a letter in sign language. A person doesn't sign letters to make up a word, rather, they learn more complex motions to compensate for a specific word in its entirety. Horses and their ears and body language are no different. A horse doesn't just pin its ears and expect a reaction. Rather, the animal incorporates many motions involving the ears, eyes, mouth, nostrils, hips, legs, chest, etc. to give a full sentence. It is really humorous to watch them react so long as they have space to do so. I might have to do this with my horse...

Thank you, for reiterating how horses can't be rushed. I try to move through each segment of learning only as fast as each horse can absorb the lesson. I am in no hurry, and i tell other horse people, we need to learn to be horse listeners, and be consistant in our communication. I watch so many people that don't want to put in the time to train themselves to take away pressure, and always leave a "hole." When the horse gets confused, the majority of people, men and women, just start pulling and kicking, and run the horse up the wall. Then say the horse is stupid, because it did exactly as it was told. More training of people, as you stated, everytime we handle a horse, or any other creature, we either teach them something good, or something bad. And, if you don't understand the principle of pressure and release of pressure, then how can you say you're training a horse. They don't understand the concept enough to apply it, much less be trying to teach it. And, it takes more than 30 days to learn your life career. Funny chicken, lol Never know what might wierd them out.
