LoloYodel 2 camera/angle video remix using (with my usual thanks and immense gratitude) :
1) "Lazy Cow Prod" : Tripod Master JVC Single Tube Camera etc ...
2) Unsigned, back of hall (wide, colorful, stage view) from "Telekinetica"
"Telekinetica" : could you please post at least the rest of Set Two (esp. Looks Like Rain & Attics ...) Please !
Lolo Notes:
Highlights of the show are the Scarlet ~ Fire (32 mins !) and Corinna ...
Color reduction on the Telekinetica angle as the original was tooo bright/blue...
Nice to have both the close-ups but also relatively rare wide, colorful, stage shots !
Audio : "Matrix" soundboard (Seamons)
LoloYodel Posts :
Set One :
05 Lazy River Road
Missing all the rest ...
Set Two :
01 - Scarlet Begonias ~
02 - Fire On The Mountain

We were in the mezzanine and Jerry’s first” fire “ there was a flash on the floor like someone had flash paper and the crowd went nuts. Anyone else see that? Best of the nineties... top 10 of all time

100% it was an extraordinary moment that I will not ever forget. We were behind the stage looking out towards the crowd and it looked like a 20 foot fireball shot up from the middle of the floor section. You can hear the crowd cheer at the 14:30 in the video.

I will never forget that. I always thought it was the lighter w/ a hairspray bottle trick which just lit this huge fireball. It was timed so perfectly which made it so cool. Exactly at the first “Fire!” 🔥! Nothing beat a Friday night NY crowd at the Garden w/ the good ol’ Grateful Dead!

Lightning bolt, the Steven Cripe built guitar Jerry is playing here, looked and sounded fantastic. The luthier copied the look of the alembic guitars jerry played through the 80's and early 90s but I think that this guitar had a better tone than tiger or rosebud, and i prefer the darker grain of wood over the red of tiger and rosebud. I only wish jerry had gotten this guitar much earlier in his career so we could of heard him play it at his peak of skill

I also respect your point of view, like the others, sincerely, but this guitar was made from a bed from an opium den. Literally. Not sure that was the best choice. I know he loved it, and definitely some gorgeous haunting music was made on it, much of it with a very acoustic effect, bringing it all back home at what I feel he knew was the end of the road. I prefer any of Irwin’s guitars any day, but I love it all and I’m so grateful to have seen dozens of shows in this era. What others have referred to as meandering during sections of this song, honestly isn’t meandering at all. He was completely on point and knew exactly what he was playing. He was WAILING. The reality is, he was over it. Baring his soul, not interested in repeating his old music. But he could still absolutely be Mozart and Beethoven.

Being a guitar 🎸 player I’d like to ask Jerry why he stopped playing a Gibson SG, and went to a strat back in the day. Until then I guess it was the sound he got on Truckin, that twangy country sounding honky took kinda deal. It’s also maybe lighter and more comfortable - why their preferred over say a Les Paul. Never had a SG so IDK. These home made independent guitars 🎸 are so so I guess but don’t sound much different than the SG he used in the 60’s. I guess his sound is more from him, the way he presses the frets, and the technique. I was horrified when he showed up to play with a Strat. I’ll get over it. Clapton also. BTW, I only own a Strat now, and a fender acoustic.

@christopherorman5769 4 жыл бұрын
@@ericheisler4270 We can agree to disagree. I don't think Vince helped Jerry or anyone find much of anything, here or in many other performances. There was zero interplay between the two. He had rote runs and block chords. He started off, basically, like later-day Keith with the block chords and lack of inventiveness. His repetition then only grew more obvious later. Watch any Hornsby performance, and Garcia's approach and eye contact changed drastically. That should tell you all you need to know about Vince's role.
@matthewmead2374
@matthewmead2374 3 жыл бұрын
@@christopherorman5769 yeah i agree. In 1990 when Brent died I think the band didnt want to commit to some long process of finding the very best replacement, but instead wanted to quickly fill the void and move on. I would.imagine the pain of losing Brent coupled with the sheer fatigue of playing and touring for 25 years factored into why they wanted to avoid a long search for a new keyboardist. The priority was not finding the best instrumentalist but instead finding someone who could sing the high harmony parts while also being generally competant a musician. T Lavitz from Dixie Dregs who is damn near a virtuoso keyboardist was turned down. I believe that after hiring Vince and rehearsing with him they started to have doubts as to his ability to step into the role. Instead of firing Vince they simply hired another keyboardist (bruce hornsby) Bruce had that magic, that secondary melodic lead during jams to interplay with Jerry. They had real chemistry and played with and off of each other. Vince on the other hand provided some color and flavor but rarely stepped up to feed off of Jerry's lead. They had wanted bruce to stay on idefinetaly but he was increasingly dismayed and frustrated over Jerrys inconsistancies and drug related failing health and felt he would be cosigning Jerrys descent if he stayed on, so he went back to his solo career and vince took over sole keyboard duties in 92. Vince wasnt by any means a bad keyboardist, and there were times where he could really step up and suprise you. But mostly he went through the motions and was simply good enough but far from great.
