Great day, please be careful I think it would be a bit safer if you wore some kind of tough leather or snake proof boots. You may put your foot next to the tin a d not know there's a snake there. I'm not putting you down just want you to be safe. My wife like to of lost her leg because of a cotton mouth but to her toes. Love your videos keep them coming. Are there any scarlet ok g snakes in North Carolina?

I have these Scarlet Kingsnakes in my yard. They are very placid. I mulched deep the whole length pf the bed to increase the amount of food for them. There were two, so maybe there can be more. I put in a big mulch pile about twenty five feet by three feet wide and three feet tall. I attracted a lot of lizards and snakes to eat the critters that came to inhabit. Its a protected spot. I didn't have much before that.

ry nic In south eastern Middlesex County. Seen 1 garter this year. In January aswell! How easy is finding snakes for you? My neighbors across the street find dozens of garters each week in their yard, and I’ve only ever found one, which was the one in January.
@noopbloop5051
@noopbloop5051 4 жыл бұрын
@@Aquacrystal11 what's so different about their yard lol? I have a couple decent spots that almost always yield a handful of sightings given the right time of year and such. One spot has racers, garters, ribbons, milks, waters, ringnecks rarely. Also has occasional blandings turtle. Another spot up the street has a lot of reddish and orange garters and sometimes sorta anerytheistic ones I think (no red or yellow mostly black and white). Also theres Hatold Parker which is loaded with garters if you find the right spot. I'm gonna hit up my spots tomorrow and start taking footage and hopefully start uploading some videos cause there arent too many herping videos for this neck of the woods.
@Aquacrystal11
@Aquacrystal11 4 жыл бұрын
ry nic I really don’t know! They have forests in their backyard so the snakes stick around there. I have a frog pond, and that’s what probably attracted that garter back in Jan. Thank you! Massachusetts herping vids are so rare around here! Turns out I’m not gonna be able to herp today, so I’m really looking forward to those vids! I’m gonna Sub

As soon as I saw the title and thumbnail I figured you were in Georgia. A chill ran down my spine as soon as I saw you were wearing flip-flops and shorts, though. I spent four and a half years in land surveying in the Metro Atlanta region. No shortage of snakes during the Spring and Summer. I was a bit more accepting of them than some of my coworkers, who started reaching for the machete/bush hook the moment anyone mentioned the word "snake".

The Scarlet King is beautiful, too. And I like that you show us other reptiles as well. Thank You. How did the 2nd Copperhead take to being washed? And how did you do it - just pour water on him from your bottle?

A lil caution to you about momma vulture. as I understand it they won't attack you to keep you away from their nests. They'll vomit on you instead. As if that's not bad enough, keep in mind as to what it is they eat.... Also, is it in a Copperheads nature to be so chill? or is it just cold outside?

I love watching your videos and learning BUT why in Gods name are you out “herping” in sandals? Come on your could wear at least tennis shoes, right? Sorry it’s the Mama in me (South Carolina) My favorite place to go outside growing up was the woods, actually it still is. Of course I learned a lot about snakes, crawdads, bugs, not to drink creek water, etc. my Daddy did teach me how to identify the 2 most common venomous snakes in our area. (NC) copperheads and cottonmouths. So being knowledgeable I wasn’t scared of them but was always on the lookout for them. Helped several friends to not get bitten or try and pick up the wrong snake 🙄🙄Gosh great memories!!! Keep up your good work and be careful!

The Simple Life But did I get bit? No. Because they don’t care to bite unless they’re being harassed or think my fingers are food. The tin has a lip that I grab to lift it, as long as I’m not sticking 4 fingers directly under the tin to lift it I’m not in any danger. I do prefer to lift with a hook, but I left my hook in the car while I was flipping that spot because I forgot how much tin there was there.

@mariemaroney7891
@mariemaroney7891 4 жыл бұрын
scott clark exactly, young inexperienced reptile enthusiasts watch these videos to learn. It’s something we don’t want them to learn, we have a responsibility to teach them to have a healthy respect for venomous or “hot” ones. Someone wise once said “when you’re dealing with venomous species it’s not a matter of if you’re going to be bitten, it’s when you’re going to be bitten” All hot handlers have been bitten at least once in their life. And if they haven’t?, a healthy attitude is knowing or thinking it’s coming some day. It’s what makes you cautious enough to stay safe.
