Scarlett Johansson slams Open AI over using her likeness

OpenAI did NOT use Scarlett Johansson's likeness. They gave her a chance to be involved, she declined, so they found someone else to do a similar concept. They've actually had the Sky voice in their system for a while now, and it wasn't compared to Scarlett, until they gave it a little personality using this new AI. But in a side by side comparison, the voices are clearly different, similar assistant tone, but different person.

They don't sound alike. Johansson has a distinctive rasp to Samantha's voice in her that is nonexistent in Openai's Sky voice. The tone is similar, but not the same. Maybe instead of a hissy fit, Scarlett could be flattered. If the Sky voice was indeed that of a voice actor, and not artificially generated, then what is the argument here? Does that voice actor's career end because Johansson thinks they sound alike? That's BS. Now Chat GPT freezes the best voice on the platform and paying subscribers lose out.

@@Salsa_Mami Neither does AI. A person has to misuse it, and then THEY become the responsible party, not the AI. It's just a tool. Photoshop has been able to make believable fake images for decades. A good audio editor can manipulate voice recordings to sound nearly identical over low-quality phone. It's all about how the tool is used. Some uses are bad, others are fine.

It's incredibly obvious that OpenAI imitated Scarlett Johansson's voice to match that from the movie HER. Add to the fact that Sam Altman approached Scarlett Johansson twice to make it official, plus him mentioning the movie Her multiple times recently, and Scarlett Johansson has an incredibly strong case. Sam Altman looks incredibly scummy here, and brings into question OpenAI as a company.

No, they literally asked her to voice it TWICE and the CEO has mentioned the movie where she voiced an AI assistant multiple times, clearly they intended for the voice to sound like hers. She has a case and her lawyers even asked OpenAI to detail the process of creating the voice and they took it down
