I decided to go check out the pawnshops and see what I can come up with. I found this old Ibanez so let’s clean it up and see what we’re working with. If you know what year this guitar is, please put it in the comments matter fact, if you know anything about this, Guitar put it in the comments I would really appreciate it, and as always, I appreciate you watching.
If you’re wondering where I get my tools from here’s some links .

AHH!! Sean! Don't do the fretwork without taping off the pickups! Nah, it's your guitar. You do what you want. 😜 However, there is a chance that the metal filings from the frets can get into the pickups and jack them up. They're magnets after all, and they'll attract the shavings. You do what you want, but it's still worth pointing out to others who would worry about it if they only knew. 😋

I can’t believe what I was just looking at. I think that’s my old CN100 I owned back in the 1980’s. Same knobs ( not original ) and I totally recognize the chipped paint on headstock that someone just touched up with black paint. I’m sorry I ever got rid of it. Almost instant sellers remorse when I sold it in early 90’s.

Those are the best pickups Ibanez ever made. I used to have a 1979 Ibanez Iceman you know the Paul Stanley guitar and it had these pickups in it.

Original knobs were sure with the rubber rings on them. Concert series 100 and 200 only built in 78 and 79. Did not come with graph tech bridge. Mint condition examples seem to go for as high as $900.

Definitely 65 bucks worth. Its a early year 78' model, maybe made between February and March. With their flying fingers pickups. The flying fingers super 80 pickups were first produced in 76'. The model number on the pickups would be from late 77'. The pick-ups were made to sound similar to Gibsons' mini humbuckers. The guitar itself, the neck, is 3 pieces of maple with rosewood fretboard. The body is a solid piece of mahogany with carved top piece made of maple. The finish is called cherry wine. As it only came in 3 finishes that year. Black, brown sunburst and cherry wine. The bridge was definitely replaced with a graphtech. Cause the original bridge was more rectangular in shape with steel string saddles.

Ibanez just made a better guitar for way less $$$$$..

CN 100 introduced in 1978. the entire CN line was discontinued in 1979. it is a solid mahogany core with a solid maple cap-face. the pick-ups are Ibanez super-80 humbuckers. i don't think those knobs are original, but i think that the pots are. fix the neck-joint cracks and it might be worth approx $500. edit = oh now i see the bridge has been plugged and redrilled, maybe it's not worth what i just said, but if it plays and sounds good then there it is. i'll be damned it sounds even better than good - i wouldn't part with it.

I wonder if this example came from the Terada factory. I came to know that Terada can be trusted for high-quality because for a number of years I “was with” an Ibanez Musician model that had neck-through body construction and a real ebony fretboard, and that was many many years before I learned that my favourite Gretsches were made by Terada. (I’ve never played a USA-built Gretsch though )

1978 CN100 AV CN100 Antique Violin (more images) The CN100 is a Concert series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1978. It was made in Japan by FujiGen. The CN100 features a carved maple top with cream binding on an offset double-cutaway mahogany body bolted to a laminated maple neck with a 22-fret ebonized rosewood fingerboard with binding and pearloid dot position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Super 80 humbucking pickups with chrome covers mounted in black pickup rings with individual volume and tone controls, a Tune-o-matic style Gibraltar fixed bridge and slotted tailpiece with scalloped "cloud" ornament, Smooth Tuner II machine heads and rubberized Sure Grip knobs. The output is mounted on the side of the guitar. The CN200 is a similar model with multibinding, block fretboard inlays and gold hardware. The CN100 was discontinued in 1979 along with the entire short-lived Concert series. [source: Ibanez Wiki Fandom page for CN100]

Its a 1978. Guitar Info Your guitar was made at the Terada Plant, Japan on October, 1978 Production Number: 401 The Terada Musical Instrument Co., Ltd. The Terada Musical Instrument Co., Ltd. was established in 1912, at the beginning Terada was making Violins for Toy purposes, after World War II, around 1955 Terada started to make in earnest ‘Strings Instruments’. In the 1970’s they had three plants near Nagoya area and produced more than 10,000 guitars per month for Domestic market and also for Overseas market, but now 1/8 that amount today. The Terada factory is now building hollow and semi-hollow body guitars for Epiphone as well as their own 'Thumb' brand guitars. At one point made Tobias bases prior to Tobias being sold to Gibson.

It's a 1978 model. J780401 follows the pattern used by Ibanez between 75 and 88, with the first character being the month (J being October), the next two digits being the year (78) and the last four probably the number built that month.

I am an Ibanez fan. I think it worth 65 US$ but not a cent more. Later on similar models were called "Artist" and had a set neck and (if in good state) they are very expensive today. Even if in bad state usually they are traded for more than 65$, usually much more. This bolt on Ibanez I'd use as a collection of replacement parts. Pickups, stop tail piece etc. etc. look nice and probably are worthy to be re-used in another guitar. The body I'd use as fuelwood. But if you like the guitar, just keep it as is (after you cleaned the fretboard and re-crowned the frets).

GT-8849/ Pat.Pd. on the bottom of the bridge, sounds like an early Graph Tech part to me. Those pickups were mid 70's or later but the CN100 started in 78 and ended in 79 so your window of possibilities is VERY narrow. Dot inlays, black plastics and chrome pickup covers scream 78 and they ALL had maple necks on mahogany bodies with a maple cap. Missing the original bridge but fk-it. Sounds great.

The series consisted of a CN100 (chrome hardware, dot neck), CN200 (Gold Hardware, block neck) and the CN230 (Gold Hardware, 1/2 Vine neck). The most interesting thing about these guitars is that , even though they were offered as less expensive guitars as compared to the top of the line Artists and Performers, the Concert series shared the same PATENTED hardware as the premium lines ! The Concert Series Features: Solid Carved Maple top Mahogany body Gotoh sealed gear (Star) tuners Gibralter Bridge Quick Change Stop Sure Grip Knobs Selector switch grommet Side output Jack Super 80's pickups Velvet touch frets Laminated Rock Maple Neck
