Frankly, I love Scary Game Squad to the point where you guys are one of my favorite things on the entire internet, so I hate to vote against ANY sort of content from you guys.......but this game is just dull. And weird. And bad. I don't have a better horror game to suggest to you (since I mostly discover horror games through you), but if you have ANYTHING else that you guys want to try out, let's do that instead. It is a sequel and it's not a very good game. Slyvio 2 couldn't meet it's kickstarter goal so it feels unfinished and is really repetitive. The first is much better.

Here's an ACTUAL spoiler: The plot DOESN'T go anywhere. You instead get some neat Clocktower-esque moments that end up with no payoff at all, collect some documents that suggest there might actually be a story to the game, then it ends with the main character quite literally laying in the grass with the "last boss" and dumping the entire plot of the game on the player then and only then in that one conversation, then the game ends. It is without question one of the most rushed endings I've ever seen in a horror game, and the worst that wasn't some kid's early access Unity engine "game" made entirely with premade assets.

To be honest, my impression from watching this video is that as nice as you guys were towards the end of the video, you really weren't having a very good time. The entire purpose of a series like this is to enjoy the experience of scary games with you guys as a group, so if you're not having fun we're not having fun. I really hope that you guys will start another Scary Game Squad series soon, but I sincerely don't think this is the game for it.

Really like Scary Game Squad for banter and how you unravel the plot of the game and I've always had this thought, that you shouldn't limit yourself to only scary games, any point and click adventure with some mystery element will fit here just as well and won't make poor Davis suffer through the experience. When it comes to the current game, I pretty much agree with everyone else here: "If you don't enjoy the game no one will".

This thing actually started life as a remake of the original Clock Tower for the SNES, which was itself based on the Dario Argento films Suspiria and Phenomenon, neither of which had much in the way of plot. (Haunting Ground itself was originally going to be another Clock Tower game.) So....yeah.

I agree with you guys, with all the cuts it seems like this is a slow game to play. As great as the story may be the speed seems to really hamper it. I have one question though - would you play something else instead or would there just be regular Jesse content in this space? As much as I like you Jesse the multiplayer stuff is what keeps bringing me back.

I'd like to see more of this, but you (Davis) clearly aren't enjoying it and I can tell by the way you're playing. There are elements you're missing (the chair in the kitchen), and moments where you could run to a hiding spot that you aren't. I don't mean to be a backseat gamer, because if you aren't enjoying a game then you shouldn't play it. I'd love to see you guys play this game and if you do, I'll watch, but I won't be disappointed if you just stopped; I'd probably just play it on my own.

John Smith I feel like they are also completely missing some mechanics. The two things they complained about is their fault. The quick time event always failed because Davis didn't realize the mouse button switches. Clearly the old man stands stunned for a little while after they stab him but they just stand around him. Then Jesse even realized the whole distraction thing but then they never use it again. And complain how you just have to wait for the old man. I haven't played this so maybe I'm wrong?

Yeah, and you can tell that it's because they don't care in the slightest whether they get caught or not beyond it being a setback to progress, which is a huge barrier to enjoying this type of horror game. This is the type of game that depends on the player wanting to do everything in their power to not get caught, and they'll just give a resigned "oh better let him go ahead and kill us" if they take any damage. Whether this is a failing of the game itself or the game is just not up their alley, I don't know, but it seems futile to continue once the core conceit that the rest of the game's mechanics are built on just isn't there in the players' minds.

Holly Hobgoblin I love ssg (especially their re7 play) but it's not the first time they completely disregarded the main conceit of a game. In soma they instantly were like "no there not alive they are programs". The whole game built on the conceit that you can take a human and create them exactly in a computer.

Yeah, but they haven't made any new ones since like 2015. They're supposedly still working on one that should be finally releasing next year, but they got rid of Lani so I don't even see the point. The only reason their franchise has been remotely successful was because of the people who grew up playing the games and now they're getting rid of their main voice actress (who's been voicing their main character since the beginning in '98) and they're moving it to a new engine thus getting rid of the point and click style all so they can appeal to a younger audience. Sorry for the rant, it's just that I've been a fan of those games for about 14 years now and I hate to see it all just go down the drain.

Hey SGS, audience member here. Thanks for trying the game! I agree with you guys that I'd like to know where the story goes, but I'm really not willing to see you guys suffer for it. From what Davis said and the cuts you already had to do in the first video to try and keep us entertained, I'd say finishing it is not worth it. I enjoy the game and youtube vid when you guys (SGS) are enjoying it, and I really don't like video cuts. I propose that instead of continuing this game, you guys switch to another. I'd like to ask the community to help with thoughts on a game for SGS to play. I personally think another Fatal Frame would, easily, be better than finishing this. This is just my opinion; what say everyone else?
