Decap Attack was another good Halloween game. You covered Ghosts n Goblins, Splatterhouse and Castlevania as some of my favorite horror themed games from the 16 bit era. I'm a huge fan of early RE(0,1,2,3,CVX,4) so I always make it a point to play them around this time of year. Great selection and vid, Aaron. Thank _you_ for the great content. 🤘

It's honestly kind of dated by today's standards. Ghost Master is a much better, newer take on the idea. I think there's patches that make it more playable and less Evil Genius/Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines level of jank it was on release. I'd love a new Polterguy/Ghost Master type game though. Come on indie developers! Pick up the slack where AAA have dropped it! Give us the 'Stardew Valley' of ghost management games! :P

I never got around to renting any of these 6. But one I did however was called Beware The Ultimate Evil of Warlock. it's a game based off the Warlock horror movies in which you play a druid who acquires magic spells along the way and uses them to defeat enemies and end bosses. it has a password system but I believe it kinda screws you over in some way and you'd be better off trying to beat in one sitting.

Never really found games to be scary. However the first Silent Hill game was unnerving especially in the school when the things kept fading in and out in the dark. Also remember playing resident evil 3, when Nemesis would follow you into a room or burst in through a window kind of startled me lol.

Great list! I would maybe suggest Mystic Defender, even though it's not strictly Halloween, but that game is just really messed up and gruesome. Also, if you don't mind japan-exclusive games I would suggest Dahna: Megami Tanjou as well. It's a very violent action platformer that is inspired by greek mythology and has you riding Frankenstein's monster among other creatures.

Is this a real Splatterhouse 3 cart? Perhaps a PAL version? I have _never_ seen that "Fairlight" subtitle before, however, I have only played the Japanese version. In the Japanese version, only "Splatterhouse PART 3" is displayed in the title screen. The title screen in the american version is completely different, as it is simply called "Splatterhouse 3" as seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2jKlWWuft2sma8 I am very curious as to why it is called fairlight here.

Another great video! Another fun(ish) scary game on the Sega as well as SNES was Warlock. Great intro screen and death screen. You play as a young sorcerer fighting an evil witch, who turns humans into zombies, dogs into hellhounds, brings Gargoyle statues to life. You fight demons, ravens, bats, giant spiders. You even go to a Haunted castle fighting ghosts. Get caught between a side-battle between the witch and another evil sorcerer who shapeshift into monsters. Go to hell and the devil grants the witch the title of son of satan, turning him into a giant devil himself.

Thanks for sharing and thank you for the kind words, Nazz. Sounds like we had a similar history. Born in 81 as well and we also had the 2600. I've still got that thing and somehow it still works lol. I was totally a Nintendo kid as well growing up and had each generation. Although now that I'm older, I just try to find interesting/fun games on any console and don't really have a preference to one or the other. My go-to would probably always be the NES just because those games are in-grained in my psyche, but I'm trying to learn as much as I can about all the stuff I missed out on along the way.

I wonder what Splatter House would have looked on a Sega Genesis *original? I truly enjoyed all three Splatter House games and man were they freaking hard. Castlevania Bloodlines was good but I was irritated as it looks great but I expected far more. I had the Sega Genesis/Sega CD and Snes when tis game hit. Castlevania IV was so much bigger and longer in every way. I felt they kind if cheated us Sega fans. Yes, I lived it but too me it didn't feel entirely like a true Castlevania title. I will say the graphics however were damn good. It's one of those games that shows the Genesis could do those Snes tricks just fine. Zombies Ate My Neighbors was absolutely fantastic! I wound up getting it for my Snes and I don't really know how. One day I had it and I seriously don't know where the Hell I got it. I hot it during my heavy partying days (16-24) and likely I grabbed it by mistake in a drunken stupor. Often times my friends and I would go clubbing until 3-4AM and go back to the party house too play video games until we collapsed. Go to school, work, visut our parents homes whatever, and repeat this ad nauseam. My favorite was when I would wake up with new games in bed with a girl I have no idea remembering meeting. Ghouls N' Ghosts was a game I got with my Genesis in 1989 and I loved it. I have beaten GnG many times over the years and I keep coming back for more. Actually, I recently beat it on my Genesis Mini and Core Grafx Mini back to back. It was really neat getting to play the mythical Supergrafx version for the first time and I love it. I still prefer the Genesis version as the Supergrafx take is quite a bit harder, if you can believe it. It's like taking the Genesis version and adding double the RNG with some very strange sound effects. Seriously, when you pick up armor it sounds so freaking strange to me and the music is a hair flatter. Congratulations on your continued success here on KZbin! I think I have been watching for a little over a year...I can't remember as this COVID 19 business has played Hell on my grasp on events. I know we've only been on "lockdown" for a few months but it feels like it's been a freaking year already.
