I do not understand firing Saleh so early in the season. It makes no sense. It had to be a personal thing because removing the head coach, a popular coach amongst the players, so early will only cause disfunction and lower player morale. Then you start moving coaches around, you are setting up a coach with no experience as a head coach in a situation where success was already slipping away. Sometimes you just have to ride it out and see where things go. It’s obvious to everyone the firing didn’t make the team better.

Trade every single player on the team for future draft picks -- and I mean waay in the future, like '27 or '28. Do the same with all 14 or so of your draft picks in '25 and '26, unless there's a true can't-miss OLT. Or if there's a true can't-miss QB there, take him and redshirt him. Deferring a pick for one year is said to warrant double the return. If that's so, what could you get by deferring for 2 years, or 3? A lot, and many teams from the past (including the Jets) have used just that - a bundle of 1st rounders in one draft -- to jump into contention from being lousy. Combine that deferral multiplier with what players like Wilson, Hall, Sauce (and the whole rest of the team) would bring, and you're looking at something like 3 or 4 first-rounders and a couple of second rounders every year for 2 or 3 years. But could you pay them all? You wouldn't have to. You'd deal away the red-chippers, busts, and we-don't-need this-pick-anymore draft picks for more hauls down the road. You'd keep rolling it over, dealing away all but the very most important players for future picks as they near the end of their rookie contracts. So now you've got enough draft capital to sign a college all-star team every year from, say, '27 to '29, and since your whole team is gonna be composed of undrafted free-agents in '25-'26 (some of whom your fans will fall in love with, BTW), you probably have the top pick in the '26 and '27 drafts already. Think of it like this: if you're gonna win, say, 40 games over the next 5 seasons, it's a lot better to go 0-17, 1-17, 13-4, 13-4, 13-4 than to go 8-8 every year. This scheme is a way of proactively aiming for that kind of outcome. The alternative? Years of pretending we're close, if only we could just get some complementary pieces for Garrett, et al, -- stars whose skills are eroding and whose salaries are increasing, every year. Ointment fly: Will other GMs go along? Sure. They'll think, if this player puts us over the top, I'll get an extension. If we suck, I'll be gone anyway, and the picks I dealt away will be someone else's problem. But still, there's this one last issue -- would Jets fans be able to survive being the worst team in football for 2 years? (That was a joke.)

That being said, AR is still the best QB they have on the roster, but they also need an O-line, so maybe with an O-line he would still have enough, but I think AR is entering that sort of last year Manning era where he has the mind for the game but the body is going… he’s not at the level of Manning was, but he appears to be getting there.
