I saw my very first race at Southport Airport in 1964. My dad took me there, he didn't want to pay for admission so we watched from the ditch on Cedar Ave. I recall Jerry Hansen won the feature race in an early Chaparral (this according to Jerry's recollection many years later). As ten year old I was hooked on racing. My father also took me to most Donneybrooke races until I got my drivers license, then I went to all the races with my friends. Once I discovered Road America that was really an eye opener. Thanks for sharing your movies!

I think that the race at Southport was held in 1967. Jerry Hansen is driving the ex-Penske Lola T70. Fred Baker is driving the blue Porsche 906. Looks like Gerry Mulnix 427 SC Cobra. Jerry Hansen raced a McLaren M6A in 1968. This was the car Bruce McLaren drove in 1967 in the Can Am and then Mark Donohue drove in the 1968 USRRC races, which was then sold to Jerry Hansen. Just the same, great video!
