watching this video after trying to do this Scenario a couple times im just kind of amazed because the first 6 minutes you havent really had anything come at you besides a grunt... i had hovercraft/Amphib tanks running into the back of my island by that time i swear to god. and airplanes bombing or light gunships lol

ok after trying again i can say that they went full retard mode against you for some reason... they had a marauder and amphibious tanks like i said running into the back of my base killing things and not to mention a few minutes in before i could really even start getting Mexs out they had Amphibious ANti air Kbots run into my island and start killing my Air Cons... so either they have made AI more difficult or you got lucky lol. also like 10 minutes in i had Hounds and Gunslingers killing my frontline. I mean maybe its just me but i feel like if you did this one again it would turn out differently

This mission did take me a few tries when I did it. I will have to give it another try. It does sound like you had quite a tough time. Don't feel Bad though. This mission is well. Known as being one of the very tough ones

@@Requiem_tv I've done the last one and almost every other scenario so far that I've actually tried. I ended up doing this one but I started Kbots and basically walled off the center pass instantly with my commander. And built lots of defences while trying to get enough units to kill them. It took me like a 2 hour game and probably 60+ titans total to fully kill them. I really just ended up having to nuke them to oblivion to really kill them because after watching the replay the bots probably had a combined like 1600 metal income

@@Requiem_tv I don't think it is remotely the same as when you did it. I get land assualts from the front, round the side, air assaults and all before the 5 mins mark. I think there have been significant changes to the AI in the last few months and I don't think your strategy works anymore. It could be that I'm playing core and not arm, but your starting build gets ripped to shreds vs the current AI. All the back mexes are raided, the defences at the front are ignored as they come from the side and the back, and you get bombers taking out your power long before your AA timing...

Just tried again, 3:45 have a banshee gunship harassing my econ and at 4:15 I had 3 Blitz and 2 Pawns crash through the turret line on the opposite side to the com and go for the air plant. There was a scout that came in much earlier but got 2 shot by the turret so didn't track the time, but your peaceful eco based start is just not realistic anymore :(

Took a while to work this one out. Key is getting tech 1 aircraft to reclaim lots of metal. That'll allow you to jump straight to tech 2 vehicles which I pushed with soon as I got about 15. Really good at getting you to balance getting some defences to deter attacks and improving your economy. Getting tech 2 early helps a lot with this. Took me 38 min to complete as I got lucky with all enemy commanders still being on land

It legitimately looks like you and I are playing different games. The AI is hyper aggressive with nearly perfect counters. I have attempted this many times now. No matter which strategy I have attempted the AI swarms me. I attempted to copy your plays and by the time I had a few air constructors, fighters were on me. By the time I had t2 vehicle plant and 1 single bull out the AI pushed 20-30 t2 units and a dozen or so gunships. This scenario seems to react to my plays no matter how I change my strategy. I will keep trying but this is wildly difficult for me.

absolutely the same for me. I tried it like 15 times now with varying strategies. On my best run, I controlled the whole basin on the right and the crossing with a fleet of like 80 T1 ships while having a massive echo and a lot of static on my island. Then suddenly they overwhelmed me from the left with a flood of t2 amphibious tanks it was impossible to hold .. I already put it on beginner difficulty but no matter what I try they seem to even increase in aggressiveness. And they counter all of my strategies without even scouting me :( One thing I noticed is that if you build a lot of buildings in shift queue they tend to all-in me more compared to when I only queue up like 2 buildings per worker .. Also the more static I build the more all-in as well ... Seems unbeatable to me, it is already lowest difficulty (and I am capable of multi tasking on like 2 fronts plus jump back to manage base and got decent effective actions per minute ) ... lol ..

Nice video! Every time I think I have this scenario whipped, the AI catches me out on a flank and im toast. Legitimately hard mission to clear, good practice though! Great to see options on how to finish it

Great plays, my only thoughts are you could had exploited more your "peace time" with tier 2 eco (T2 mines/fusion/energy converters) to snowball them better with your build power that was available Airplanes are very underrated until you notice in horror that the eco focused player stocked a 200 unit bomber-swarm to send flying directly into your base lol 😆

indeed, playing vs AI is alot different to playing vs other people. I defiantly wasted some time, as LSR said, the use of the rock reclaim could have been a big boost that i left out.

I finally defeated this friggen map yesterday. I'm done with this game for a bit after that. Took me a week of stupidly bashing my face against this map to finally beat it. Why are I like this?

It does seem it has been indeed made harder. I tried it again and failed several times myself :D I did only do it a couple of times though so will have to update this when i get a chance. Nothing wrong with taking a break for a game though :) I do the same thing with a different game i play called Tarkov

@@Requiem_tv I probably didn't help myself at all. I'm way too slow to tech up. But I have to tell you, your idea of going air force first is what I needed for my breakthrough. The other thing that helped me was stealing the three very rich rocks on the AI's side. I took two of their southern inland rocks and the one rock off their coast. I made sure to take all of the other rocks as I needed them. Order was: First rock was the rock north of the AI's southern islands. Second rock was the one in their southern mountains. Third rock was the one in the water north of my mountains. Then each of the rocks on the islands where I was setting up. The last rock to get before it gets too hectic is the rock in your northern mountains. The others you can recover as you need them. Just the three you take from the AI's land and coastline is 1500 metal. Better you have it then them. To keep your air constructors safe while doing this, your build queue should be one constructor and two fighters set to guard on the constructor. I always build them in 1:2 construction order, so I always have two fighters out for the one I just built before the next constructor.

Hi @Requiem, I noticed in previous videos too, when you do area mex for a second time to cover more spots, you also un-select a lot of the previously selected ones :) Need to be more careful with this function

This video is a year old. Looks like this scenario has been made much ...much more difficult now. It seems almost impossible.

opening air for that extra difficulty are you? :D what happened when you tried bots? seems like rezzers can just eat whole forests + you get off the feet quicker. starting air is almost universally bad, unless your comm is flying somewhere, or you are specifically bombing enemy energy production early. granted if you start air, you can get to the goal (eat rocks, get islands, get sea) a bit better which might be easier to handle for new player (instead of reclaiming), but I think airlab can co-exist with bot lab until t2. making mexes before eating rocks was awkward. air is much needed, probably at like 4-5 minute mark for sure, but starting just seems like setting yourself back. also beamers is excellent for that choke.

Hey LSR. I started bots twice, both times i got overrun as it took to long to get the back mexs and i also couldn't get control of any water or the hills. Not only that but the hostile air caused me issues on the other play throughs, As you can see in the video i transitions to vehicles about the time you said i could have gone air instead. I did say in the video, that your shouldn't normally start air, but in this instance i was going to as i had an objective in mind. Im still not an ace player and so i still miss some things like forgetting the important rock reclaim. Mainly i didnt build enough E that play through and that what mostly stalled me, but that always seems to be an issue i need to improve on

If you go bots they will absolutely overwhelm you with air, if you slurp up the trees and try to take the metals in the back with reclaim bots (I had like 5 controlled independently each time I tried it), they will hunt them down with amphibious or hover fast units (how the hell do they get them at like a few minutes into the game anyway ...). I tried to make use of the terrain features such as the trees and rocks in like 10 games now but it is simply the worst strategy, since they will somehow know where my reclaim bots are and hunt them down, so I would have to guard them which makes me vulnerable to a 100 vehicles t2 push form the front at minute 10 .. No idea how you guys can clear this mission as you describe. I put it on beginner difficulty it does not make a difference at all in my case .. If I build anti air and anti air bots the will come with land tanks only they always know what I do and they are extremely fast, so reclaiming ressources is actually a losing strategy for me since I end up paying more this way ..

Hey @masterbel2 I show the screen at the beginning and also said in the first video of the series that it would all be played in normal, as its the default the game puts you on. Also as these are aimed towards new players it's useful to leave it on what they would most likely play on, to get the most similar experience. (edit for spelling )

everything i try fails the amount of agression from the AI is unreal 2 mins in and i get harased already 10 mins in and it literally has built everything cant do the mission. is it possible that the ai difficulty has been raised ?

AI hasnt been raised since this, What difficulty are you playing on? This mission did take me a few tries to win it as you saw my deaths :D getting your ECO up and air defence as quick as possible is important

@@Requiem_tv y I know I just get really frustrated when the AI finds a single hole in the defenses and you lose 3 to 4 mexes in a single attack. I just need to get better I think.

It is indeed to hard. I've seen AI get to T3 or T2 ship in like 20 minutes, so its also luck dependent. And they call that 5 dificulty, cant wait to see whats in the end

I've found an easier strategy for this map. The key are rocks with metal in them, get them first with rez bots (2-3). You don't even need rush for mex initially. The metal from rocks can be used for navy which is cheap on both energy and build power, but expensive on metal. Dolphins are solid at holding the crossing and you can also get sea mex uncontested. You can grab water rocks as well. AI is horrible at expanding on sea with land start, so you can shut down any attempts of them getting a foothold there. Subs will keep you safe against amphibious cons shenanigans. On the ground you should get some llt upfront, get land mex and scale up energy production. Last step in the early game is an air lab, which will keep the base safe with fighters (the cheapest and most effective aa in the game). With 75% of mex control, protected base and the initial large boost with metal you can scale up eco and crush AI without too much hassle even if it's agro. So the opening is 3 rez bots, 2-3 pawn as scout protection, 5 workers (reclaim trees and start wind turbines + nanos at base), mace spam 8-16 depending on the level of agro (maces are incredible at holding high ground). Com goes down to the sea to make navy and 2 navy cons which will reclaim rocks first, then build sonars + mex. After navy cons, it's dolphin spam to lock the mid, while a couple land cons are spamming defenses at crossing. You should be high enough on energy production at this point to afford an air lab for fighters which will prevent any attempts of AI to attack. When going t2, you might want to prioritize geos over mex, as they offer a better deal with energy to metal conversion compared to metal poor mex as well as solving any low power issues.

I do plan on redoing these as some are getting alittle dated now. Although the AI's themselves and the missions having changed. Pathfinding itself has changed. So i may make the AI behave alittle different

I dunno, I feel like something must have changed. The AI behavior when I play appears to be nothing like the AI in this video. I get harassed at the 2 minute mark, If I don't have my LLTs up and running by 3 minutes, a pawn will just sneak around back and roam around. The first big AI push comes at about 7 minutes and if I don't have any land units, I'm toast. I'm also getting quite a few amphibious tanks just rolling up onto my shores trying to outflank me around the 7-8 minute mark. If I don't have proper defenses in place, I'm hosed. AI usually gets T3 by about 20-25 minutes and at the 40 minute mark the Titan spam begins. I've beaten this mission a couple times as Armada, currently trying to beat it as Cortex, but I don't have a strategy that consistently works. Seems very dependent on the AI strategy. Ironically, I seemingly can beat "New Beginning" consistently. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I think this scenario desperately needs to have it's difficulty rating bumped from 5/10 to 9/10. Good content as always, though! I'm looking forward to the rest of the videos in this series!

Thanks Backslash. Yea i can imagine beating this as Core may be tough as you don't really have that long range pew needed to take things out. im still to do the "new beginning" mission. i was waiting for the dev to finish working on it before recording it.

@@Requiem_tv thanks! Yeah I finally beat it as Core. I basically just hung on tight. Took the ocean using a massive swarm of ducks, used strat bombers to kill the anti nukes and just nuked the hell out of 'em. Felt a little cheesy, but it worked. It's imperative to take the metal in the map asap. I went vehicles and pumped out 2 muskrats, which is used to snag the rocks on the enemy shore and build as many water mexes as possible to fuel my early eco.

i tried turtling and failed. tried defending against all fronts and failed. generally trying to push long game to get better units but all attempts failed. i said screw it and built a very small base at start consisting of 2 metal, 4 wind gens, 1 bot factory. forced commander to assist the factory and reclaim terrain till 3 builders were constructed. had the 1st builder build 6 wind gens, couple solar and assist factory afterwards, 2nd builder area mex the entire island. 3rd builder assist factory. once builders assembled i sent my commander charging the enemy with the factory set to repeat building 6 maces and a 1 AA bot and rally my troops to my commanders location. when my commander and small army found the first base i destroyed it and placed a small FOB 1 sentry turret an AA turret and radar. then repeated that till the other island was mine. the enemy forced themselves in the water and that was the easiest part. mid way through the engagement i had 1 of my builders build 4 con turrets and build an advanced bot factory pumping out platypuses to help take the fight to the water. after completely taking the enemys island i built air and rushed torpedo bombers. beat the game in 24 minutes. rushing is wayyyyyy better than long game. maybe im just bad at long game lol

This is a puzzle mission masquerading as a strategy game. If you do 1/10000000 things wrong you lose. AI is working at 5k apm no problem, expanding in 5 different location, building 3 armies and laser point micro 300 units simultaneously, and there are 3 of them. Also they build 3 different type of armies forcing you to defend 3 strategies simultaneously, while building eco, and expanding, and building armies... Unbalanced "beyond all reason". Again, nothing to do with the video which is great as always

Yea, its not a easy mission, Some people say that its one of the hardest ones, So once you can master this mission you will tend to be able to deal with Barbs on any map

@@Requiem_tv You are right. I found later mission with bigger difficulty factor to be much easier to handle. Will try again, hope to beat it one day as well. I tried to move my commander to the left part of the island, worked better for me but i still got overwhelmed eventually by a huge number of tanks from the right, the one passing through the middle point. Even tried it with bots as the iron is closer, but as you said, i was too late to take the one in the water or on the islands, and that made a huge difference in the end as i could not outproduce 3 AIs

well probably we are playing different game, i'm doing everything like you but better, pausing for commands, reclaiming, not wasting any second, 3 factories constantly building units and they are attacking me from every side, artillery, bombers, bots and gunships destroying my every mex, this mission is dumb

Hey, Im not aware of any updates to the AI since i did this. but that was recorded last year. This is quite a hard mission, and as you can see, took me a few tries still. Ill run the mission again and re record it for 2023!
