this probably captures a driver "in the zone" better than some of the modern movies (thinking Biker Boyz). the intense glare, the lack of noise once the window shuts everything out. It's just him in his element.

Continuity? The side window is closed before the race but at the end the hair is blowing. Did the driver open the window once he was past the point of victory?

Saw this 50 years ago, age 11, at the Nuart in LA for 49c. It was so turgid and stultifying I didn't know if the film really burned or not. Either way it fit.
