What Easy Rider did for Harleys, 2-Lane Blacktop did for American heavy metal, the meditative siren song of the road in a car with soul. I caught this for the first time on tv when I was in hs... every penny's gone into American V8s ever since. *Kick-ass* editing job on this, man.

Fantastic editing on this, thanks for making it. I think this film is culturally and historically important. Also, it really isn't a "car movie", but rather a philosophical narrative wrapped around the road and traveling - much like Vanishing Point (which came out the same year)

I've been watching your channel off and on for a year or so, and I love it! Thanks for all the great chase scenes. This one is the best (maybe I'm biased?) of them all! Superbly edited, with great attention to important details and highlights of the movie, it's a great clip to watch. Those '55 Chevies built for the movies were all truly fast street cars. The L88/M22 car was equipped with a '59 Olds 4.88:1 rear end, turning low 10 second ET's at nearly 120 MPH at the strip. The "Camera Car" had an LS6/M22 with a '59 Olds 4.88:1 rear end. The so-called stunt car had rear only steering brakes with a Turbo 400 trans. Thanks again, truly Two Lane Blacktop 2.0!

Where you headed? - Amarillo - Well, you're in luck. -Thank God Almighty, mister.....- She's got a hard pull, doesn't she? Zero to 60 in 7.5. She'll do a quarter of a mile, 13.40. Performance and image that's what it's all about. -It's a mighty fancy automobile- I bought her in Bakersfield, California. I was testing jets at the time. It got so I wasn't getting enough action on the ground. You know what I mean. I mean, you just can't stay with the same high forever. So, when the 455 came out with a Mark IV ram air and a beefed blower in... a Carter high-riser setup, I was on line. 390 horsepower. 500 foot pounds of torque... whatever that is... It's all in the folder right there in the glove compartment, if you wanna take a look at it. Oh, she's a real road king, all right. -How come you ain't still in Bakersfield?- Because I'm in the Southwest. What kind of sounds you like? - Beg pardon?- Rock? Soul? Hillbilly? Western What's your taste? - It don't hardly matter to me-

The GTO is a real judge with the 455 HO not the RA III 400 seen the car at a Pontiac convention in Charleston WV in the late 90s the car was documented as the driver from 2 lane blacktop it was completely original down to the fresh air induction system if you can stop the video on 3:00 you can see the induction system Was your GTO a judge ?I had a 69 GTO RA III 400 4 speed (not a judge) the car was scary fast I believe the RA III made more power than advertised I don't know about the 70 model but my 69 had a vacuum switch under the dash to open the scoops did the 70 models have a cable or a vacuum system ?I'm sure the 70 like the 69 RA IIIs had the cast iron headers my also had the rare transistorized ignition(not very reliable) I replaced it with regular points wish I would've kept the transistor system it's worth big money now

Neither James Taylor nor Dennis Wilson had any acting experience. The director of the movie didn’t want professional actors as he was trying to create something raw. The movie was never about the actors but about the cars and the experience of the journey. The “actors” didn’t even get the entire script. They were usually given the page/pages for the scene they were shooting on that day.
