What made my emo memories was MYSPACE. Found the emo band, Asteria. They were no one but so freaking good! “A lesson in charades”, and “the taste the touch” were gold. Lol they were on my top 8 and thanked me for listening and being a fan. They were super sweet and thankful for all their fans.

@@emac2737 Yeah! So the type I use is called Matrix Opti Smooth Permanent Smoothing System. There is a tutorial on youtube that I follow, I have been using this stuff since 2016 and I love it! Its pretty simple to use and I remember the first time I used it I was like wow for once I can walk out in the rain and not have my hair frizz up :'))) I have 2b hair but my baby hairs are like ringlets. This stuff isnt permanent permanent but it last a long time, I would say I need to do it every 3 months and 4 if i'm pushing it. There is a lot in the tubes so it will last you a long time depending on how long you hair is. And SOMETIMES there are certain parts of my hair that feels fried, like small sections but for the most part the rest of my hair feels amazing and healthy and smooth. And the sad part you can't bleach you hair when you do it, so you have to stick with you natural hair or dye it darker like I have dyed it black with no issues. Hope that helps :DD

The music, hair and makeup. Also making new friends who were also scene and emo. Even though some people thought i was fake lol. I also just loved the feel of it. Wearing band shirts and black all the time was just so cool. Idk why, but i mostly went to walmart back then to get most of my clothes. The teasing was such a pain for my hair though, because i have such thin hair. I remember using really thick aerosol hairsprays just to get it to stay in place, but it was all worth it in the end. And yes Linkin Park is amazing and My Chemical Romance. Its just so nice to hear people still talking about it in 2020.

8th grade to start pod freshman year was the start of my emo interest with Evanescence, MCR, Escape the Fate, Attack, Attack!, Underoath, etc. My MySpace page was themed with skulls and broken hearts, short stories galore, and was obsessed with Alex Evans from Canada. I would research the emo look and always wanted the hair, the style, dyed my hair black, and always had my eyeliner armed and ready. It wasn't till my early to mid 20s when I finally was able to do my hair with the big tease, hairspray, extensions, and started wearing false lashes. I dabbled in color hair and kept cutting it, but always went back to black. I'm 28 now and it's how I live my life. Will never be anything more or less. Emo is a lifestyle not just a look 🖤🧜🏻‍♀️🖤

I’d probably botch it up though.. 🤔 MCR wise my anthem would be “Headfirst For Halos” and not MCR would be “the quiet things that no one ever knows” from Brand New

Because of bad genetics I have thinner hair. Can anyone tell me if my hair would be okay for a scene look? It's averaging 24 inches right now. My bangs are the same length as my hair. My hair (because it is thin?) and through experimenting can get a ton of volume.

You have a really soothing speaking voice and it was fun to see you transform this wig. I've gotta be honest htough that all the bands you listed as "Emo" bands really weren't Emo.I don't mean to be "that" person but I just have to speak up on that because it's a big misconception. To give a little rundwon ✘ My Chemical Romance ~ They actually did start out as an Emo (Emotive Hardcore) band when they debuted in the music scene back in 2002 with their "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" album. But after that, they transitioned into a hybrid of Alternative Rock and Pop Punk after that with their 2004 album that most of us grew up with "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" ("Helena", "I'm not Okay", you know the songs I'm sure lol) and they stayed in those genres from there on with the Black Parade and Danger Days. So to call them an "Emo" band is really not accurate because the bulk of their stuff is not Emo music, just Alternative or Pop Punk. ✘ Flyleaf ~ They're actually an Alternative Rock / Alternative Metal / Hard Rock band. They never were Emo. ✘ Evanescence ~ They're actually Alternative Metal / Hard Rock though they did dabble in some Nu Metal back during the Fallen era of 2003. Never were an Emo or Goth band. ✘ Linkin Park ~ They started as a Nu Metal band but eventually moved to Alternative Rock & Electronic Rock. The only Emo band you included was Escape the Fate and that's more in line (though mainstream) sound of what Emo music tends to sound like. If you were looking for more Emo bands, I would highly recommend Thursday, Rites of Spring, Jawbreaker, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Mineral. Admittedly I was never much into Emo music but I'm really into researching and exploring genres of music and that's why I know what I do about the Emo genre lol Anyway I hope this helps. Just know it's not meant to be an attack, think of it more as a learning experience. :) Anyway, bang up job on the wig, you really transformed it because I admit, watching you work with it gave me anxiety haha.

I was googling cutting scene hair, showing my kids because I am being myself for Halloween, but my teen 16-17 year old self from ‘07 😂 I nailed it by the way! But, I decided I’m going back to the scene. I miss it and loved my hair, makeup and everything else. Most memorable scene/emo was Hawthorne Heights and seeing them in concert! That and MySpace, man I miss the old school MySpace from the days of old, when you were coding without realizing and making my profile tiny with dancing dinosaurs and a color changing profile, with an iPod touch as my music player, playing pretty little rave girl 🤣🤣🤣 ohhh the days. Awesome tutorial, I totally get what you mean by the 2011 scene hair, the hair prior was big on top, like as big as you could get it 🤣🤣 I remember my hairdresser dying inside whenever I’d come in my cut. Oh, and making all kinds of weird XXXbeebeeXXRawrXX names for my profile name 🤣 I’m actually locked from MySpace because I can’t even remember what I put as my name last 🤣🤣🤣 PS: there is actually a new social media site that is as similar to MySpace as I found yet. It’s Heyspace I believe, or something similar to that. I made a profile but haven’t actually done much else yet, unfortunately no coding I’ve seen but, still, pretty customizable and the layout looks pretty uncanny to the og MySpace too 😅

I’m 13 and I always wanted scene hair, but I have wavy super thick hair and I’m afraid to mess up my hair by cutting it ;-;

I didn't start wearing wigs until 2012, but I really wish I had the confidence to buy one sooner because my real hair was never thick enough for the dramatic scene style and a wig would have completed me at the time. And saved my real hair from at least some of the excessive bleachings hahahaha

Do I have to have choppy layers to have scene hair or am I good with not as choppy layers? Because I want to go back and forth with doing scene hair and not By the way, thank you so much for the tutorial! This is going to help me very much :)

Synthetic wigs are hell to style and cut because they're sewed to be center parted and lay flat 😑 I think I was only scene when I was 14-15 then after that I've either been a mix of emo and goth or pink pastel depending on my mood there's no in between. But I still do scene hair to this day and I'm 21 now. Was never really into any of the emo bands though so that alienated me from all the other scene/emo kids lol.

So.. what made the start of my scene/emo phase? 2008 and myspace. As for my anthem? Ohio is for Lovers

The hair and clothes are what I miss the most. I mean I still wear band shirts and black skinny jeans but I can’t dress like I used to now that I have a job. Also in my free time i’m becoming my ideal scene girl self instead of being a scene boy still. My emo anthem was definitely not good enough for the truth in the cliché.
