Plus - I don't know what Nikki really thought was going to happen. Dave was going to rat her out - and then Tess would have fired her for pulling a costly stunt like that, since the club was already struggling and that's a surefire way to lose more patrons. What's sad is that when she was little she outdid all the other kids in every contest she entered to the point where the parents who encouraged her mom to put Christina in the contests began to turn on her & her mom. And when she went to her prom they played her song "Genie In a Bottle" & everyone walked off the dance floor most likely the girls pulled their dates off the floor & wouldn't let their dates talk to Christina because they were very jealous of her. To me that's just mean, cruel & disrespectful I would not only let my date talk to Christina I would be right there with him congratulating her on her success I would probably be nervous around her.

Love the film, the whole Burlesque vibe with the hair, makeup, costumes, this scene is the hair raising in back of your neck when you hear that powerful Xtina voice, most of the songs are amazing in it, Tough lover, You haven't Seen the last of me, Somethings got a hold on me, and Bound to you is a beautiful ballad. I think the cast and director did a great job and it's a nice film to watch.

Christina said she was homeschooled, she was bullied after being on 'The Mickey Mouse Club' and the show being canceled and she never fit in with "normal kids", she said she didn't go to high school so she went to prom with a friend of her's when she was 18yo and her worldwide hit 'Genie in A Bottle' came on at the prom, and everyone cleared the dance floor when her song came on out of spite and jealousy. This scene in the movie was kind of reminiscent of that and a big "F* You" to the people that bullied her in her teens.

I bought Burlesque on DVD at a second hand store when I was younger and would play it on my tiny tv :,) I watched Chicago at a pretty young age and was excited to give something more modern a try, pleasantly surprised by both Cher and Xtinas performances, I then watched it so many times that I grew tired of it over the next few years lol.
