It's a bit concerning how many likes and agreeable comments this got. He said, 'Fact. Andrew Beckett got fired' (he was fired). Then he said he had to prove the next point. It's concerning that it has to be spelled out to so many people but it's implied that's when he moves on from the facts to the arguments. It's infuriating hearing the judge's ruling at the end. It's a pretty big leap from "impressed and delighted" to "merely satisfactory", and it's a leap made by altering - not "amplifying" - what was initially said.

There's tons of amazing, original, thoughtful, unique, complex, wonderful movies being made these days. The fact you only watch superhero movies and then declare "all modern movies are bad" as a result, doesn't make it so. That's like saying that all modern music is bad because you only listen to Justin Bieber. Stop being lazy, and go and find all the fantastic films that are incredibly well made and are original stories instead of just endless sequels and cinematic universes. It's your own fault if you can't find them. Because it's not like they're hidden gems, tiny little cult films or things like that. They're still big films. Look at something like Arrival for example.

I agreed with you when I first watched the film. But when you keep in mind the time period wherein it was socially acceptable to be blatantly homophobic, his “confession” isn’t really a confession. It’s a deliberate trial strategy chosen by the defendant that backfired spectacularly. Also, you combine that strategy with his gigantic ego, and you get that “confession.”

I hated Mary Steebergen’s character in this role… however I loved the entire cast of amazing and convincing actors. Everyone brought their A game. Denzel is A+ though.
