People have no idea how hard it is to pull something like this off. Super fantastic job.

And that's SNL, a non-stop meat grinder. It's created stars, it's killed people, it's entertained America for 50 years and keeps on going.

I'm incredibly grateful l grew up with SNL. And I'm incredibly grateful that someone thought to make a movie about the very first episode. I'm also grateful I'm not of this generation that can't handle ANYTHING outside of what tolerance and comedy is. I would love to know what Lorne and those cast members that are still around think of the movie too!

an SNL Movie with no current or past SNL performers, but Lamorne Morris did audition for SNL and Willem Dafoe has hosted. so I guess that counts.

and Mr. Rhys, the real mystery is why your voice in the movie didn't sound more gravely, otherwise I totally see Carlin acting that way, I saw him on stage doing his stand-up and dealing with a heckler, otherwise, you were on point

What's most impressive is the original cast was all (Nortth) Americans because portraying that cast with all (North) Americans is apparently an impossible feat.

Well. Being 64 and watching the first 15 years of snl and remembering all that went on @ that time in the world and on the show I must say that this film sucked! No bout a doubt it!!! I am embarrassed for anyone who honestly knows anything about comedy and comedic history who can say that this film was good. Years of SNL crammed into 90 minutes just ruins the story. No one can get a satisfying drink from this firehose. It's a shit show. A sugar frosted turd.(served cold and stale)
@EamonKellyАй бұрын
The film is not "years of SNL crammed into 90 minutes." It's literally the 90 minutes leading up to their first broadcast.

GILDA WAS BIGGEST LET DOWN, SHE IS EASILY THE MOST LOVED UNIVERSALLY, BY FANS AND THE INDUSTRY, AND WAS SO FORGETTABLE IN THIS, needed moments, everyone else was ok to great.. she was unique person maybe impossible task although i feel Margaret Qualley wouldve done someting interesting or Sarah Sherman, .. tough having already seen chevy portrayed well by joel mchale, tough as you cant help but compare.. this chevy grows on you, knee jerk it feels off.. i feel belushi was the biggest ask for anyone, and he needs the fury and the innocence , i think again it couldve been handled better by DAN FOGLER, JOSH GAD, but he does have some john moments.. i know they went for a drama group instead of impersonator's but i think they needed both.. its a hurdle to SEE the actors they are trying to portray, and the film loses time with regard to that, its all about timing. youre second guessing the actors too much. its not really until hour in you relax into the flow.. better casting wouldve saved that hurdle, and smoothed you in, its fun for fans of snl, but couldve been oscar worthy if handled with more grace to the original cast.. time, care, research, can tell some actors went hard to nail it, lamorne morris, emily fairn, nicholas podany, jk are standouts!!! they all were the people. rest had waves or the tide was out.. next best, waves, was cooper hoffman, gabriel labelle, dylan obrien, all solid just not nailed.. high 6, 6.8 or 6.9/ 10.. but ive seen that episode 1 x5 at least, would others care. think for none fans 6.2 to 6.5.. music was awesome!
