When things go wrong at the mixer, Brennan (Will Ferrell) and Dale (John C. Reilly) step in to fix the situation with an amazing performance.

Watch Step Brothers Now: AAN.SonyPictures.com/StepBrothers
Brennan Huff, a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother, Nancy. Dale Doback, a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert. When Robert and Nancy marry and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. To pull it off, they must form an unlikely bond that maybe, just maybe, will finally get them out of the house.

@@diggman4123I think the story was that Richard Jenkins was told by the director to go up to Will and John and start talking about how he wanted to be a dinosaur when he grew up, but I don’t know if the context was given to him. So I think with the camera changes in that scene it may have been shot out of order where he gave the improvised part and they went back and tied it in to give it meaning / relevance

Had the same experience with Tropic Thunder. Didnt find it all that funny in theaters but then I watched it at my buddies house one night after consuming some... "vitamins" and I've never laughed so hard in my life. Its like the opposite effect w comedies IMO. Usually better at home. Whereas with blockbusters or like a Marvel movie you find yourself busting out laughing with the audience at the dumbest/corniest one liners then when you watch it at home you're just like 🙄😒 "how did the entire theatre think that was funny?"

Will Ferrell is one of the funniest men to ever live
@nignamedmutt7270
@nignamedmutt7270 Жыл бұрын
John C. Reilley is INFINITELY funnier. Will Ferrel is just obnoxious, and about the only character he really pulls off well is the overgrown manchild(perfect for this, and most of his movies, but it gets old pretty fucking quick) I feel like their fame needs to be reversed, because when I watch their team-ups, I'm always amazed how much funnier Reilley is, and yet nobody IRL can match the name to his face the way they do with Will Ferrell. And If I spelled a name wrong, idgaf.

Reilly is slept on way too much, and deserves as much credit and fame as Will Ferrell

I haven't bothered to read through the comments, so perhaps someone else has already touched on this. What is so fantastic about this sequence, is both the absurdity and the sincerity of it at the same time. It's obviously a comedy, and ridiculous, but the themes are strong and emotionally resonant. Damned if I don't get a little man-tear when Derek sees memories of his brother. That's what's so great about this kind of film. It's ridiculous, and it knows it's ridiculous, but it's also fucking poetic and beautiful. Fuckin' Catalina Wine Mixer!
