What a magical day! You can't get any better than seeing whales from your own boat. Such a lovely sunset too. So happy for you two having great boating experiences.

You know Ray, I've been following you well over 7 yrs now (I never miss a single vid), and I must say you make some of the best relaxing and pleasurable videos on youtube. I also love your no nonsense layman's approach to your how-to/review vids. I'm not one to comment on many videos but you most definitely deserve more praise than you get. Keep up the awesome content, cheers!

I totally agree. Ray exhibits a confidence in all areas without being at all condescending. Rare in KZbin content creators.

Great shots of the humpbacks and orcas! I never tire of seeing them.

An anchor light. I learned something new. I loved the whales and orcas. I used to think about being a marine biologist when I was young. I was a big Jacques Cousteau fan. What an amazing day you had, and the water was so calm. A day for the books.

Very well done Ray & Anne! Orcas are so interesting to watch. The scenery in that area is beautiful. Not the California desert in winter, that's for sure. Cheers, Steve

I had an opportunity to be on the water in that area in the 1990s. We sailed (motor boat) right in the middle of an Orca pod and saw numerous eagles and seals. Went up into the Jarvis inlet to Chatterbox falls. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

Very nice vid!👍 Not possible without your vid skills built up over many years. Quite a refreshing addition to your channel. New vista's . Well done! Keep both going!

I remember traveling up there and there was an area of inlets where the water was warmer. Octupus islands. We yumped off the boat and the water was maybe 75 to 80 deg F. Stuck here with health issues this summer. Testing, etc. Housebound as it is 110 F and more to come. Love to you two!

It’s nice seeing some happy whale pods being left alone at a distance to do their thing. Not too many tourists or loud vessels.

Yes, in this are there is also an organization called Strait Watch that makes sure no one bothers the whales www.cetussociety.org/straitwatch

Not many Orca and Humpback sightings in the RV lol.

haha, not usually but we do see them passing by Thunderbird RV park out on the spit in Campbell River occasionally. The park rings a bell when the are whales in the Discover Passage so people can take a look.

Hi Ray. I have been following you for a few years now and really enjoy you videos and updates you post. I think you have likely helped so many people with a multitude of RV issues. We have a lot at Rosen Lake ( Jaffray BC ) where we park our fifth wheel and have power and water hook ups. We also subscribe to what use to be our local internet and tv company (South Country Cable) but they have just been bought out by Mascon ( Telus)😒🤬. South Country was great and you could not beat their service. Since then we’re not happy and now I’m looking at Star-link for internet as I know of a few that are on it and are quite happy. I have looked into buying for our address here and it looks like we would be eligible for the reduced purchase cost. I live in Calgary but I don’t think it is available there yet so I don’t know if my set up here would work for me there as that would be ideal to be able to pack it up from here and move it there. We are retired and do lots of travelling and moving about so like the idea of the roaming idea. Can you tell me your thought Ray. I really appreciate your input. Also how does it work for you on your boat. Pete and Joanie.
@LoveYourRV Жыл бұрын
The roaming has worked great. Once we power it on we have internet within a few minutes as long we aren't fully blocked by trees which on the ocean doesn't happen so works good on the boat. Even with the swinging around the anchor and a mast and some lines overhead it still works well. I've had Starlink for a few years and like it. www.loveyourrv.com/starlink-satellite-dish-internet-first-look-setup-test-on-the-rv/ Cheers, Ray

After watching your boat videos and enjoying them, I'm curious if you guys fish for your supper? Seems appropriate to do so but I haven't seen or read that you do. BTW: Anne seems super happy Captaining the boat!
@LoveYourRV Жыл бұрын
We have in the past when Anne had a smaller boat. We have no tackle now and the previous owner didn't fish at all but I'm sure I'll be changing that going forward as I love seafood. We have a large crab trap we kept from the previous boat. Love Dungeness crab, gonna get a prawn trap too.

What are the bugs like on the water, Ray?
@LoveYourRV Жыл бұрын
Usually there are very few bugs if any, maybe the odd bee or fly. Unless you anchor quote close to shore near trees or in a marina near trees, then there can be mosquitoes that show up around dusk.
@neilrankin9945 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Ray! Question: Is there any restrictions on anchoring for the night? For example wave size, length of anchor cable, distance from other boats. I’m guessing it’s kinda like Boondocking; what you’re comfortable with.
@LoveYourRV Жыл бұрын
Yes, there is quite a bit to it, like different anchor types, how much chain to use and how much rope, rope types, etc. Different types of ocean bottoms to be aware of, from sand to mud to weeds to rock. Depth and tides to consider and wind and current exposure. Most good anchorages are marked on charts, cruising guides, or by people who have written books with illustrations over the years. Here is an example www.dreamspeakerguides.com/

I wonder sometimes if they are whale harrassing tours? We have seen orca's but kept back quite a long ways. When we saw them, we just stopped and watched but did not encroach on them.
@LoveYourRV Жыл бұрын
There are pretty strict rules in place these days about position and how close a boat is allowed near the whales. There is also a group called Straitwatch that has boats monitoring the whale watching activity. www.cetussociety.org/straitwatch
