One very unfortunate type casting was Leslie Nielson. He was typecast, early in his career as a dramatic actor. Thought from the start that was all he wanted to be. It wasn't until 1980 that he first got a comedic role that people noticed he could be funny. It was one of the things that made seeing Airplane! in 1980 all that much funnier. People who got to know Neilson from his roles in films like Naked Gun might find this surprising, but it's totally true. For the first 25 years of his career, he couldn't get the roles he really wanted. Speaking of Airplane! Peter Graves was uncomfortable with a scene in that movie where he had to ask an 11-year-old boy if he had ever seen a grown man naked.

That convertible that Uma Thurman drove actually is a dangerous car. It is the Karmann Ghia which basically is an old Volkswagen Beetle with a special body. So it is a rear-engined car with a swing axle which makes it quite tricky to handle if you drive it fast.

Every complaint was an iconic scene. Quentin is the quintessential director of this generation. Every movie is a standard in film when released. Every actor either springboards into stardom or has a comeback because of their role in one of his movies. His esqued universe has Jews killing Hitler, a slave killing white people in the south, Sharon Tate survives the Manson family, so why the Lee family is so up in arms over a depicted esqued version of Bruce completely fathoms me. All in all, the "complaints" actors had while filming pales in comparison to the praise and compensation they get after being in the greatest director of a generation's movies.
@starseedwarrior92402 жыл бұрын
Bruce died young and his daughter is concerned about protecting his character and sharing his beliefs and philosophies. He wasn’t depicted as his best self but an arrogant airhead. It wasn’t the point to depict him realistically but regardless I can at least understand where his daughter is coming from. Nothing wrong with saying she doesn’t like it. It’s not like she started a big shit stirring campaign and lobbied against the film. Also with Uma she could have died or faced life altering injuries. It’s only because she didn’t that she could receive the praise but that’s what makes it provocative. It’s a risk reward thing but ultimately the art is better making actors uncomfortable to execute his vision and also fair to scrutinize.
@zaynes50942 жыл бұрын
@@starseedwarrior9240 IN some interviews, Tarantino has said that he felt that Bruce did seem to be, to him, a bit arrogant sometimes. Like he was bigger and better than everyone else, but the truth is, Bruce started carrying around a loaded revolver in his bag whenever he was in public for his own safety. Had a license and everything. It was mostly because he'd get mobbed at airports with people wanting to test themselves against him. All I'd say, as someone who's practiced various martial arts for over a decade or more, you're not touching him. He will touch you up for sure. But they are making fun of his image to some degree, which is the highest compliment to any Hollywood star. Let's face it. Most of Bruce's films are silly, but fun. They are basically made for kids, and are just orgies of unrealistic violence. Bruce's athleticism and creativity in the fight scenes make them interesting, but he should not be above teasing, and if he were alive, he probably would have loved the scene....and then publicly challenged Brad to a fight.....LOL

I’ve thought for awhile that QT makes amazing movies but is pretty much a massive dck. I’m not huge into watching movies, I prefer to read (ik I’m a massive nerd) & after having a kid my free time was limited. But even when I’ve hated a QT movie, I also loved it. A great movie may make you feel ways you don’t want to feel, and push you to declare you’ll nvr watch again, but I have a massive appreciation for the skill that goes into eliciting such strong emotion. (Best example isnt a QT movie, but prob the movie that most effected me. Requiem for a dream. I watched that movie twice and each viewing left me wanting to slit my wrists. But it’s one of the most incredible movies I’ve ever seen. Tho fck Jared Leto.) I’ve watched a lot of QT movies but one of the ones I was most excited to see I’ve never watched. When D’Jango came out I needed to watch after I put my kid to bed, but I was suffering from being a parent of a young child while also being afflicted w/ ME/CFS. (So chronically fatigued in a way that’s impossible to explain.) Then it became one of my mom’s fav movies. Then she unexpectedly pretty much died in my arms, & im struggling with watching/listening/reading my mom’s fav books, movies, artists. Like I keep wanting to read her fav book in her honor, Zoe’s N Hurston’s “their eyes were watching god”, but I can’t bring myself to do it. I can’t hear a queen song without sinking into a funk (her fav band.) Eventually I’ll get around to those things, but it’s still to fresh. But I wish Jackie Brown got more shine. It’s such a good movie. Def isn’t as shocking to the senses as his other movies can be. (Omfg I love the Sam Jackson line “you killed my whyte grl.” It’s so perfect. Her death was so sudden and shocking and then SJ delivers that line and it’s like whiplash.) I have the feeling tho I’ll end up watching the QT’s movies I haven’t yet watched when my kid gets yo a maturity lvl to watch with me. Especially bc now all my free time without her around, is dedicated to playing her Switch. Ngl also my free time when she is around since she got a new gaming computer and is only playing the switch when friends are ovr. So basically all my free time is playing the switch.

If QT makes Django Y Zorro, I hope Antonio Banderas plays Zorro. It was said that Jaime Fox is interested but there was no word from Banderas. I enjoy QT movies. He is a dedicated student who mastered the form of filmmaking. I’m not saying that he was being politically incorrect or offensive. He was showing how real people talk. It is almost psychologically compelling because in theater, the rule for the actor/actress is not to act, but to react while in character. QT’s films have many influences and since he was a film school student he watched a variety of films in a variety of genres and languages. Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, John Carpenter and others did the same thing. Awkward and uncomfortable moments occur on the set of films, thus making the experience “challenging”. I had heard a story about the scene in Pulp Fiction when Marcellus Wallace yells, “You hear me talkin’, hillbilly boy? I ain’t through with you by a damned sight! I’m gonna git medieval on yo’ ass!” They looked at the possibility of Marcellus crying as he is saying that line. Thankfully, it remained as it was.

No, but it fit that genre of film. All of Bruce Lee's films showed guys taking way too many hits and kicks to the head if they were a casted character and one hit if they were an extra. The dance scene in Pulp Fiction was uncomfortable for Uma Thurman but Ving Rhames wasn't uncomfortable filming the rape scene?

I don't think Tarantino would've ever intentionally jeopardized Uma Thurman. I think he just made a bad decision trying to get a good shot. He seems to love her.
