That call out you couldn't understand had me laughing. I fly KSBA and hear him a lot. I had no idea what he said for a while either.

That's SkyDive Santa Barbara's N208DZ a C208 doing daily jump ops out of Lompoc.

Pilot is Vlad, out of Santa Barbara... the dude is quite busy, flying most every day... either the jump plane out of Lompoc, or for pleasure out of KSBA.

Thanks for the shot of the golf course... I miss that playing on that "confidence building" course. It is a low to medium difficulty course.

So cool. My house is to the right of the strip, I watch the planes take off and land practically in my front yard 🥰

I love flying to this place, 40 years after I lived near there, looks so different yet the same. I come from the north (San Jose RHV), some nice California scenery along the way, too.

I’ve flown this plane! I live in Massachusetts now, but when I visit family in Los Angeles I take them up in N130JM. Baymark Aviation is great.

Good landing, it gets awfully gusty there on final. Great airport, I've borrowed their bikes many times to pedal into town. A

2:30 V₁ ..... rotate. 9:06 "Lompoc traffic we advise jumpers over the field in one minute 13,000 and below vaccho river gertwomk." I think the last word actually may be Lompoc. Something like _additional jumpers in 2 minutes_ or _additional jumpers in 3 minutes._ 14:01 Time to repaint the runway numbers. You haven't lived until you've heard Air Vegas on the radio flying the Grand Canyon.
@KISMpilot4 жыл бұрын
Right! Yeah, it took a few listenings of the actual recording to discern what was being said. In the moment, it was hopeless. But it's exactly why one should call out the field at the beginning and end of a transmission. It helped in that case!
@shreddder9994 жыл бұрын
@@KISMpilot He sounds Russian. The Air Vegas position reports in the canyon would start out, "Aye Vaince," and go downhill from there.
@DanielWhiting4 жыл бұрын
I flew into Lompoc yesterday - he says something about "riverbed", since they land near the riverbed north of the field, but I couldn't tell exactly what he's saying either.
@shreddder9994 жыл бұрын
@@DanielWhiting I'm used to deciphering garbage, but the end of that transmission is a complete puzzle.

No one understands him around here either, just plan on jumpers below 13000 for 5 minutes after his one minute call is the best you can do

I fly my Cherokee in there quite frequently. I certainly wouldn’t call this a short field. While not as long as most people are used to 2300 is twice what the Cherokee needs to get airborne

That is Foreflight’s “glide advisor” feature. You input your plane’s glide ratio and foreflight will provide you with an always adjusting estimated glide area based on your altitude, ratio, and surrounding terrain.
