Swartberg Pass is one of the most scenic South African passes and it's a top must-do Garden Route activity. I took my time while I was riding it to capture close-ups of these stunning mountains. What an epic ride!

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Throughout my journey, I was raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. Hi Kinga, I just took a 7 day bucket list trip from Johannesburg where I live to the W-Cape to ride just a few of the 150 plus passes in the province. I rode the Swartburg Pass on the 21st April and was gobsmacked by the sheer beauty of this pass and rate this as the best ever ride that I have had to date. I understand why there were so many "wow's" in your narration. Keep up the great channel and happy and safe riding.

Built over 130 years by Andrew and Thomas Bain. All done with convict labour. On of the last few gravel passes in South Africa. Hopefully it stays that way. The retaining walls are all dry packed so no cement. Feat of engineering back then.

Great video Kinga. My wife and I rode the SB Pass the opposite direction (from Prince Albert) and, bravely or foolishly, took the turnoff and went to Die Hell - 2up with luggage. Had my hands full going down and back up on the same day but, worth it. Swartberg Pass is definitely a bucket list journey.

Wonderful scenic ride in perfect conditions. Enjoy the ride, Kinga. When I look outside, it is raining hard :-( The whole weekend it was like that. It’s a pity you didn’t go down into Gamkaskloof (Die Hel). We did it recently with heavily loaded 1200 GS’s and it’s really not that difficult. You would have loved it.
