most knife fight scenes between trained or otherwise military or fighting men do not have enough injuries to both parties. the hunted was great in that it showed high level training with the appropriate amount of injuries to both parties. hollywood usually takes the john wick approach and show one party being vastly superior to their opponents, but the flaw is that the fight last too long. if they're skilled enough to receive zero or minimal damage, then the opponent must be vastly underskilled. the fight would be a very fast technical victory

Except it'll still be choreographed and they themselves have to decide who has to do something improperly for the other person to get out or flip the situation. Demonstrated in the first block where Logan showed what he would've done to finish Chad and in reverse what Chad would do to stop it from happening or maybe to even finish Logan. In real life hectic fight it's a toss of coin who makes it, maybe Chad was simply faster for .5sec and Logan lost his opportunity and his arm is now trapped or even thrown to the ground arm broken. Or if Logan was slightly faster Chad is stabbed 3 times before he can grab or he grabbed and missed. So to film a cool yet authentic fight while giving both fighters their respect it'll have to be a series of moves where both fighters did the absolute best they could but one still comes on top simply because of the situation. It could be Chad say he'll do Z and Logan admit yeah in that case I can't get out of it. So instead of Z, I will have to do X instead. Then Chad will be yeah I won't be able to defend against that. Etc.

The only thing I could think to add is think about their respective backgrounds, military...not martial arts. To the military as a whole ( some select individuals excluded ) the knife is the back up of the back up. What I mean by that is we are trained for rifle first, pistol second and knife is an extra curricular after thought self tought in your own time maybe with a trainer once or twice a week. So for both of them to primarily not use the knife as a dominant tool makes since in my mind based on that.

I appreciated the fact that Hemsworth used a karambit in this movie. I've been using karambit in actual combat since 2006, when I got shredded by one breaching a door in Baghdad. Dude tore my left arm from bicep to wrist, and I have the (very cool looking, apparently) scar to prove it. After that experience, I kept that karambit, started researching where it came from, and when I had the chance, I started learning Kali and Silat almost exclusively for about 5 years, 6 days a week, at least 3 hours intensive work (I was active duty infantry, so I had the time to do this on my own... I've also been training in multiple martial arts since childhood, including muay thai, wing chin, BJJ, boxing, and kyokushin). I use the karambit almost exclusively when doing CQC offensive work, and it does the job frighteningly well. I always get a good laugh when I see videos on KZbin about how the karambit is "not a good weapon", because they're almost always made by people with no experience in practical application. It is absurdly easy to eviscerate a human body when you're in the middle of the shit, and the body responds almost immediately, if done correctly. A lot of people don't seem to understand how incredibly fragile the human body is compared to steel... there's a reason why the blade, as ancient a weapon as it is, is still used in combat. I'll take a good blade over a gun any day... the firearm will run out of ammo, it can jam, it can break. That blade will continue to cut and separate flesh from bone until you can't raise your hand anymore.

This was such an exciting rollercoaster through the fight scene breakdown and I want to share my opinions. The first one is knife fighting. People don't understand what are the differences between a knife attack and a knife duel. Two scenarios could happen in a knife attack. One is an attacker pulls a surprise attack to kill the victim instantly. The second is the confrontation between the attacker and the victim. Usually, the attacker is armed with a knife and the victim is unarmed. Now what if the victim is armed with a weapon, then the fight will become a weapon duel. In the knife duel, however, the victim is now armed with a knife or edged weapons. The second one is more of my personal opinion about the characters. Both of the two characters wear heavy body armor and guns, and they clearly sustained heavy damage from the fall. So it is safe to say that they weren't that conscious in their first confrontation, (not so sure about Rake because he is the Thor in the alternative universe). The third and also the last one is the fight scene itself. Most of the knife attacks that I have seen in the movies are pretty much choreographed. The characters unleash a bunch of wild, unprofessional-looking strikes, although Rake and Saju are lethally trained soldiers. Well, that's it, for whoever reads my comment, stay strong, stay safe, and have a beautiful day.

The car crash in the end looks so comical that i just think it was a comedy show What a punchline Btw when i see the scene before breakdown i was thinking the similar way, "is Seju' pin strong enough to hold Rake tight on the wall? It doesn't seem so" and breaking down the scene really answer my question, super awesome video!

Totally respect your grade! I thought it was an awesome fight, the fact that they just fell off a balcony and into the street and truck AND still being able to fight each other was badass! They're both really tired as you can see but that choreography was impressive!

I love how Chad looks terrified of Logan half the time.
@CanadianWolverine3 жыл бұрын
Well, that's because Chad is remembering the times he put Logan in hold or throw that Logan had a similar terrified look on his face, especially some of the expressions look like he's saying "I tapped and you didn't let me out right away!" LOL

I chock up most of the bad techniques in this moment to the exhausted nature the characters were dealing with since Rake just went through a 10 minute shootout and chase scene

@@shinomori69 Was it billed as an action/ chop socky film? Ouch! That was probably a bad advertising move. Still, it does cater to some martial arts nerdiness, just the same. When they finally showed 'O Professor', I damn near gave a standing ovation, in my living room.
