In a world full of people like George and Harry, be a Charlie
@alexs7097 Жыл бұрын
@@kellijones6481 Your answer is both true and false at the se time. Idealistically we should be Charlie, he has all the qualities of what a person or young man should be. He is kind, innocent, moral, and harmless.....they teach us to be like charlie however in the real world George and Harry will get that high paying internship job through daddy's connections, George and Harry will then progress and eventually become CEO's due to these connections and maybe even later in life senators or people of high political pull....Harmless Charlie is the guy who will end up with decent grades, meet a girl make her pregnant and quit his education to support her and the kid and rest of his life will be working a medoicre job unfullfiling his potential due to moral obligations...Remember nice guys finish last...same goes for highschool, all these guys that are smart, moral, nice, and in love eith some girl, but have no balls to tell her will eventually watch her get snagged by some asshole jock, or a football player etc...while.they will be having meetings with mrs palmer and her five daughters... Long story short....do not be a charlie if you want things in life...you have to be a cold calculated murderer (not literally) to get what you want. You being nice is just that ...someone will say a nice thing about you. So yeah hard truths.

@Liz Muschinski I'm agree with your accurate analysis, women's sexual pleasure is more emotional than men's one, based on the outside and naturally a beautiful appearance helps to attract a lover, but in this movie, the main character is blind. A blind man's love is both "physical" (he can touch a body, hug his woman and kiss her lips) and "emotional" (he can't see a face but only imaginate it and feel moods...joy, pain, happiness or sadness). Slade, in his darkness, associates with the beauty a sweet voice, a laugh, a particular scent, the warmth of skin, a tactile sensation perceived by fingers: his blindness gives him a certain sensitivity to approach people and this, despite his disability, is important and pleasant for the women he meets.

Why is Hollywood not making movies like this anymore? I can watch this movie time and time again and back to back and never get tired. Today movie makers have to get on talk shows to sell their movies. Back in the day all you needed was a trailer for the movie. No vfx, no camera techniques no complicated plot twist...nothing...just a beautiful story being told. God damn it! It's been two years since I watched a movie in cinema and I don't regret it.

Yeah its rare for actors/directors to put the care and effort into a film like this anymore. This movie is masterfully acted and made, but also appealing to the masses. Unfortunately, due to social media. reality TV, and really the internet in general, the "masses" IQ has dropped about 40 points in the past couple decades. Now you can make EITHER a Oscar bait movie no one but hardcore film fans see, OR a big mass appeal movie that's light on substance and nuance, but long on CGI, star power, and product placements. The Rock is the "biggest star in Hollywood" right now..... that should tell you everything you need to know right there.

@@growlkitty yes they do, they just aren't shown for broader audience. Disney's marvel crap has flooded everything, to see a good movie like this you have to see the drama sections in the Netflix Hulu sections. Just WOW!!!! This is my favorite scene in the whole moving. It threatens to make me burst into tears. This is what love at first sight looks like. When he names the fragrance she is wearing, she is so flattered that she melts. They both obviously had an immediate very strong attraction to each other. Then when he says "I...I don't know where to find you". That hit me hard. There really should be a sequel to this movie that is turned strictly into a love story between these two. Their chemistry is so strong. He is so handsome, masculine and dashing and she is very pretty, ladylike and feminine. Full of grace. I LOVE IT!!!!!

Yes many powerful scenes but to me the most powerful line is when he points a gun at Charlie tells him to get out and then in desperation screams "what life? i have no life, Im in the dark here, Iam in the dark!" Second best is when after a fight with his nephew at the dinner table gets up to leave and apologising to Vinny indirectly says "Im no fucking good....never was" fantastic.

This is what I call reading between the lines at it's best. It all begins with the desperate crack in her voice as she frantically runs up to the colonel, almost out of breath. Then, as if under a magicians spell, becomes mesmerized by his every word. Beautiful acting, wonderful direction, flawless script. Truly a great film.

Funny enough I met a prrson in my life that lost his leg in a war from an enemy shell. When he came about and realised his leg was gone from knee down he simply said "who is gonna want me now?" People criticize this movie because they point out that there’s no way a blind man can drive a Ferrari. But the rest of the movie is so realistic, imagine being a middle-aged woman, teaching at a elite boys, prep school, surrounded by stodgy, boring, pseudo, intellectual, and a man who has seen the world despite Being blind, comes and sweeps you off your feet. That’s real.

Somehow, seeing the whole film multiple times I doubt they become an item, but for whatever reason she clearly had become a spinster as we used to say. Not that even back then there wouldn't have been interested men, but not ones she would have cared to give up her single life for.

It''s not his problem to conquer women, as we hear from his stories he did have a threesome once with two nurses at one of his postings...he has had women in his life, but due to his career could not easily marry and after the accident leaving him blind he lost all self esteem and got bogged down in massive depression and self-loathing, but still he is very good looking and extremely charming.
