This video is the epitome of my favorite era of MTG pro play. Great players in the finals of an SCG tourney. No cheating or gaming the system. Opposing archetypes. Paper Magic. And of course the best commentators the pro play circuit has ever had to offer. Can't really get better than this. AND THAT G2 BLOOD MOON FIGHT GODDAMN

Ross's play is so clean. I've watched a bunch of his matches now and I'm not sure I've seen a single time when he made any definitive misplay.

Animating both inkmoths and attacking with three creatures was a missplay. Duke could only have 1 swords (he had only 1 card) and was on 9 poison. This way he would get destroyed by terminus. Therefore it was better to only animate 1 nexus and attack with that nexus and the elf.

@@wowmafkees He needed to attack with all 3 to beat entreat the angels for x=2 in that spot. If it's terminus then Reid lives and they're top decking. But if Tom only animates one nexus and it's entreat, he basically loses on the spot. So yeah, hard to find an actual misplay.

Even 10 years later Tom Ross is still one of the most underrated MtG players of all time. And Cedric and P Sully made a fantastic job at showcasing that with their commentary. We didn't know how good we had it...

@@kikikirikiw that’s a bit far ;). But yea with proxies you could try to get a few friends back playing to play some kitchen table legacy. I started using proxies to play with friends that didn’t want to play magic because of the price tag. Now they love it!

Its cool to see Infect! I also built an Infect deck but its very different from Tom's deck, I use *Tyvar's Stand* and *Tamiyo's Safekeeping* to protect my infect creatures but seeing as this match was a long time ago these cards were not yet released so he didn't have access to them. I also use *Slip Through Space* , *Distortion Strike* , and *Artful Dodge* to make my infect creatures unblockable *{::>_
