Brian is really close with Schaub, I think they're best friends. This means he knows him better than anyone so the encouragement to take a fight is probably because he knows it's something Schaub is really missing in his life. It would be a huge payday and probably easy work to be honest so it's not really a bad idea. There's a lot to gain from it, his name would be in the public domain in a way it hasn't been for a very long time. He might even find some success doing this. Fighters want to fight, when they stop a part of them dies. Brian's just trying to help his buddy.

People don't seem to remember Schaub knocked Cro Cop and Gonzaga, lost a very close split decision to Arlovski (the same Arlovski then went on to KO Travis Browne, the opponent that Joe maintains totally outclassed Shaub in the fight before ). People joke about his career, but at one point, like it or not, Schaub could have beaten all but 10 or 15 men on the planet in a fight.
