I got the Satin Black one , ive had the guitar for about 3 hours and totally hooked on it. It has an incredible tone and the Schecter active pick ups are just as good of not better as the EMGs on my schecter Damien. Sadly mine cost 1033.00 Aud reduced from 1300 bux. but I feel every dollar was spent was worth it. Obviously in USA these guitars are cheaper but here in aus they are all expensive the top elite brands are PRS , Gibson ( not so much these days) , Fender , ESP and now Schecter . Epiphone is about same level as gibson popularity wise now because of the affordable price and quality

I have a Jackson 6 string with a Floyd Rose. You really have to know that you’ll be sticking with the tuning. And changing strings is a nightmare. But Floyd’s are good for recording and every time you pick up your guitar, you’ll know it’s in tune.

Do you think it's also good for fast shredding? not just chuggah chuggah
@brianbergmusic5288 Жыл бұрын
I own a very similar model (Diamond series with passive humbuckers, the bridge pup is upgraded to a DiMarzio CrunchLab). I also ended up eroding enough of the frets that I ended up doing something very strange and having it refretted with Stainless Steel back when I had the spare cash. I do not know if this model has stainless steel of nickel, but I highly recommend stainless steel for longevity. That was not a cheap upgrade, so I'm kind of committed to making this work, but I still think it's worth it). I'm always having a battle between my 7-string Schecter and my 6-string Charvel. Honestly, the Charvel is a better guitar, especially for solo-ing, but I have a burning desire to chase the extended range and boldy go where few chuggers have gone before, so I stick to my 7 in spite of this. (+s for good, -s for downside ) ( + ) It has a half an inch longer scale length than a strat (26.5" I believe)... Therefore it holds a low B or low A with ZERO problems or intonation issues. ( - ) This same scale length will make the trebles slightly less easy to bend (this is why they invented fan frets). I notice a difference between that and my superstrat Charvel, but I think the difference is negligible enough to ignore. Your mileage may vary. You may want to try lowering the gauge of strings for the trebles if this minus bothers you. If you dedicate extra practice time, this should not be a dealbreaker unless you are pursuing record breaking shred speeds. ( - ) The horn of the body do get in the way of my solo-ing for those finally two stratosphere notes. ( + ) 24 frets. If you wanna shred, this can't be overlooked (my Charvel only has 22 and occasionally I miss them on that particular guitar). ( - ) No floyd rose. I occasionally miss this dimension of expression for solo-ing. ( + ) No floyd rose. Yep, this is also a positive thing. I can shift between Drop-A and B-standard, or even Bb-Standard on a whim. ( + Or - ) The neck seems pretty flat (we're not talking about bowing, I can't remember the countour-term at the moment). It makes the neck less wieldy, but it works, and sometimes this flatness can be a benefit for sweep picking depending on your technique. ( - ) If you use a strap, the neck sometimes feels too weighty. This can be compensated, but it is a comfort issue that will affect your judgement. This is why headless guitars were invented (in spite of the fact that I find them butt-ugly). ( + ) You have 7 strings. I can't live without them. Once you've tasted that baritone range for riffing, you can't return to a regular ol' 6 string in E-standard. There's something to be said about, say how weak the key of C#-minor feels on a 6- in E standard, but on a 7... whoa... the C# is an octave lower than your granddaddy's guitar, and it makes the riffs sound so majestic and powerful. THEN... you also don't have to erode the frets in the same spots, you can learn the fretboard and spend some time in other positions on the neck -- learn MORE keys than on a 6 string. A 6 string mostly makes sense with the diatonic Sudoku in the keys of E-minor, F# (Crazy Train, Lucrecia kinda stuff), A-minor (some classic thrash and hard rock), B-minor (Tornado of Souls), and to a much unexplored key: G#-minor (The low E becomes the VI degree of the G# minor scale). Meanwhile, you have MORE options on a 7 string, depending on how you tune it. These additional options unlock more keys that makes sense in the context of a band (even imaginary). But... that's my joy with the 7 string. I wish you well with your decision because in these hard times of inflation, these decisions shouldn't be made lightly.

@AaronSkokProductions4 жыл бұрын
If you're trying to reach really low tunings with out having to use extremely heavy gauge strings and still have good intonation that's what 7 strings are for. You can reach the same low tunings on a 6 string too as long as it's a baritone scale to compensate for the intonation again.

Weird question. I just got this guitar, first 7 string and first Shecter, and the output jack is extremely tight. It works perfectly, love the guitar, it just takes a little more force than I’m used to to plug it in. Is it just mine or are they made that way? I just don’t want it to get messed up because I’m not the best guitar tech so I wanted to check with someone else before I started messing with it. Thanks
@AaronSkokProductions3 жыл бұрын
Mine seems to be that way too. It's more likely do to the fact that active pickups use a stereo output jack as opposed to passive pickups which use a mono jack so when you plug your guitar in you should feel 2 notches instead of 1.

Doesn’t really make it a big deal. Companies use basswood for high gained pickups
@brianbergmusic5288 Жыл бұрын
Unless you are out-fitting the guitar with single coil pickups and mostly playing boomer-prog-rock lines on a clean Fender amp, you (or your audience) will not notice the tonewood. For high gain tones (which is probably what you have in mind), the amp carries well over 90% of the final product. You simply need something that holds a tuning and is comfortable for your hands and technique.
