World No 1 Scottie Scheffler won the first playoff hole with a par to capture the Travelers Championship defeating South Korea's Tom Kim. Scheffler and Kim finished at 22-under-par 258, two strokes clear of other contenders.
Scheffler prevailed for the second time in three weeks, capturing the Memorial Tournament prior to last week's struggles at the US Open. Tom Hoge (62) and Sungjae Im (66) shared third place at 20 under.
Akshay Bhatia, who joined Scheffler and Kim in the final group, shot 69 for a fifth-place tie at 18 under alongside Tony Finau (66), Patrick Cantlay (65) and Justin Thomas (66).
🚀 In the Record Books: Scheffler has become just the sixth player in PGA Tour history to win six times before July. The previous five: Jimmy DeMaret (1940), Byron Nelson (1945), Ben Hogan (1946), Sam Snead (1950) and Arnold Palmer, who is the only person to accomplish this feat twice (1960, 1962).
Scheffler’s six victories also make him just the fourth different player in the last 40 years to win at least six times in single Tour season.
💰Big Bucks: Scheffler tops the PGA Tour field this season in money earned with $27,696,858 accumulated through the tournaments he's played. That includes the $3.6 million he won from the Masters and the $3.6 million-plus he has earned from each of his other five wins on the tour this year.
In total, Scheffler is estimated to have earned $91,628,754 throughout his PGA Tour career. That number includes $70,262,087 won in official PGA Tour events.
