Yes! I love that Dan and the rest of the writers didn't include homophobia really at all in David's arc at all because we so rarely get a story about LGBTQ+ people that doesn't revolve around suffering. It's just so refreshing to see a show with happy gay people lol

See this is why I love Schitt’s Creek so much! The affection, the casual intimacy and love that’s apparent in every scene with them. In so many other shows it feels like they had a quota for how many times the gay characters were allowed to kiss or touch each other, but as Dan Levy said, ‘if I walk into a store that I own with my boyfriend I’m going to kiss him hello, that’s what people do’. One of the many things that I love about David and Patrick is that they accept each other as they are - David clearly has an eye for design and aesthetics but he doesn't try and change Patrick or his more standard way of dressing. Nor does Patrick feel the need to become more fashion-conscious or dress more like David (in which case he would turn into a sad caricature of his boyfriend). And while they don't change each other, they are fully committed and supportive of each other's growth - there's so much we can learn about relationships from these two beautiful souls!
