Jacob, this is my favorite video of all of yours I think. Very insightful. I think you are doing such a fantastic service to society. this video is such a great example of the unique insights you can provide for people who have not had schizophrenia and for clinicians who should understand the illness and medications., Also, you seem to be doing so well. Hope you're well and continuing to look to the future and improve . thank you so much!

I love you jacob you have helped me through alot I watch you alot . My son Chad 4 years ago at age 19 committed suicide with this illness. My aunt Rachael in her 60s now has schizophrenia also. No one ever talked about it in the family which I wish they would have so I would have known more about it. I watch the videos because I have grandkids and two daughters I hope they never get this cause there is a percentage. Keep up the great work. You are helping so many people. You are a wonderful guy. Thanks for everything you do.

You see pal, I've been in and out of mental hospitals for depression. The mental hospital doctor assumed that my "voices" (more of thoughts in someone else's voice) was a coping mechanism with my grandma's death. Then after I got out, I got a therapist, I told him about the voices and he suggested I talk to my medical Doctor, and then I got ahold of risperidone. I've had sleep issues, I sleep for 3 hours, then after I wake up, I get a dose of adrenaline. But with the meds, I still wake up, but I don't get adrenaline. So then it's easy for me to get back to sleep. Stay safe, and sane.

You say that Schizophrenia prevents you from knowing what is real and what is imagined, but I think it prevents us from seeing ourselves and how we relate to the world and how we see ourselves. Voices are simply our own thoughts that register as someone else and the voices of others register as threatening. Doing KZbin videos and blogging has helped me to see myself and how I relate to others in the world and has helped me to love myself, and intern, it has helped me to love others more and not think so lowly of others.

Stumbled across your account and have watched a few of your videos I have to say I admire your openness and awareness of your condition. I have an aunt who has severe schizophrenia as well as multiple personalities, But the Odd thing that seems to be common is that she is not aware that she has a mental illness she says we are all the ones who are wrong. My question to you is how do you stay so level minded and how are you able to be so aware of your condition and take your medicine which I'm assuming you do? Great videos by the way! new sub.

This is some real ass shit you're talking about, I used to live with a guy named Michael and he had it as well, he used to talk to different personalities in his head, he was the nicest guy though and every one loved him, he used to hate to take the medication cuz he said he liked the personalities lol, we used to have a lot of fun and you remind me a lot of him, very intelligent and aware of your illness, he hated it as well and we used to get drunk and he would tell me about it lol, it gave me a huge insight into how horrible every day life can be for people that have it, and how strange and abstract it is as well.

Good video man, and tattoo is cool.. but don't get too many of those. I know some people in their 40s who regret getting their bodies covered in them! I have panic disorder, but have controlled it with diet and exercise, etc. I know that bi-polar and schizophrenia require meds, because the symptoms gradually worsen if not controlled. I just know benzos are bad from experience. Good to see you dealing with it all very well, and in a laid back way.

I've always been so fascinated about schizophrenia for reasons I can't explain. This video is simply awesome, I really appreciate how you articulate what you deal with, having this disease. Is there an explanation, does anyone know, why the voices schizophrenics hear, are always mean and negative, why are there no voices telling you how smart and handsome you are, for example? Serious question. Do scientists know why the voices are invariably negative? Thanks again and God speed.

What you are describing when you go off meds are the withdrawal symptoms. Look up the withdrawal symptoms for your meds. The only way to reduce them is to very slowly taper off them and have a backup med or supplement for insomnia because insomnia makes psychosis even worse.

Do you have any phobias or triggers? There was this one lady giving a ted talk saying she would hallucinate a really scary clown, and her triggers were red and white because those were the colors of that clown. So ted talks gave her a black rug to stand on Instead of the red rug. Was very interesting. She said she could still see the clown in the audience but she refused to look at it. She just ignored it an kept talking.

I pulled my mom's hair one time. She cried. But I wasn't really aware that I was doing it until after I did it. I'm on court ordered medicine. Risperidone. I haven't hurt anyone or even hurt myself since I've been on medicine.except for this one time when I woke up and did it out of nowhere. I'm only on 2mg. though. I thought of my house blowing up cause we had a gas leak. Just recently. There still might be a gas leak. I don't know. The doctor told me my medicine causes diabetes and after taking risperidone for awhile now, now I have diabetes. And I've been hearing how every 30 seconds somebody loses a foot or leg due to diabetes. I'm very paranoid of having to get my foot, leg, or toes chopped off due to diabetes. I can relate to your story but I don't ever hallucinate. Before the medicine alot of involuntary self harm. I'm glad that your doing ok. I hope your doing better with your mental illness.

I am really curious about the voices and intrusive stuff!? I assume (which I believe is the low end of the delusion scale) that I have some intrusive thoughts. But I'm not sure if those are different personas / identities. I do compartmentalize them, and identify more with osdd 1 then I do voices or thoughts! And would that really be different than conscience!? But I also understand everybody's experience is different!? My thoughts don't tell me to kill myself or others. I do get some over sexualisation from them or at least one of them. And a lot of times they actually seem to manifest in the body. Such as facial expressions, posturing, attitudes, and just general expressions. Which makes me think of osdd-1. But I am definitely schizophrenic. I'm not really sure what that means!

yeah try to feed the survival instict, given to us by evolution (obviously the life that didnt had the will to survive simply died leaving mostly life that has the survival instinct, thats why today almost all life we see wants to stay alive) and feeding it can make you enjoy life much more!
