This is the second home in which kzbin.infoUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).

I have the two Schlage Connect locks for two different doors and they work great. I have them set up to unlock upon arrival with presence sensor (our cell phones), as well as auto-lock after 15 minutes if door is closed using Auto-Lock Smart App via SmartThings or SmartThings Routine. As well as have it all lock at bedtime using a Google or Alexa command and virtual switches to trigger lock. Works really great, and best thing is you can not only use as Smart lock, but can also use as “Dumb” lock with physical keys (although I haven’t used my house keys in 8 years since I got these locks). One note: the ZWave pairing can be slightly finicky at first. Make sure your hub is close to the locks, or least get some ZWave repeaters installed nearby.

Love your review. I have two of these on different homes. On my permanent residence, as a single woman residing alone, I love love the automatic locking feature. When I have unknown visitors over, I can be assured no one is going to follow me into the house or step inside when I look away. The door locks behind me and it just may save my life. Women think differently than men - it’s not an inconvenience at all.

Can I clear all codes so there are absolutely no codes to enter? I want to only use the app or a physical key to enter the home. How does the lock detect picking and bumping attempts? If that actually works it's well worth the cost of the lock, especially after upgrading the pins to a mixed set of spools, serrated, and security.

Great review. Hoping you could answer my questions: do I need the SmartThings hub? I read that it can connect with the Phillips Hue but I only have the bridge. Do I need the hub for the Schlage Connect to be discoverable?
@SmartHomeSolver
@SmartHomeSolver 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. You will need a hub that uses Z-Wave to control it with your phone. So SmartThings is a great option for a hub that connects to Z-Wave devices. If you got SmartThings then it would also work with Phillips Hue. But Phillips Hue does need a bridge to work which will usually come in the Hue starter kits. Hopefully that makes sense. I know it can be confusing with all the hubs and bridges required for these smart devices to work.

Hi Travis R you can find custom smart apps that the community has built but an easier way to get this working is by creating a Routine in SmartThings and one of the options is to Unlock Door. Choose that and at the bottom, there is "Additional Settings" and click on Automatically perform "Unlock Door" and choose the device that arrives home. Hope that helps.

@@vfxhouse6499 I don't know because I don't have an echo plus. I have smartthings and regular echo and the z wave version of this Lock. Smartthings keeps a history of events for each device. In the events history for this Lock, it shows who unlocks it or if it was locked or unlocked manually. Alexa doesn't keep a history for any connected device so I would think not, unless the echo plus is different than the other versions and does keep a history.

No one is gonna put a DB on this thing man, If your hearing that much noise, it's safe to say, it wasn't installed correctly. There should not be that much noise to a locking mechanism, or motor, something was laboring to much and likely misaligned, even by just a lil bit will do that.
@davemitzman5406
@davemitzman5406 2 жыл бұрын
@@boostedbadboyzx12r31 I'm not expecting a DB reading but more of a "this is really loud" or "It's reasonable for a motor engaging a deadbolt". The Kwikset was extremely loud and it was installed and lined-up correctly. No resistance when engaging or disengaging. I spoke with Kwikset support and they told me flat out that the noise level is expected with that lock. I picked up a Yale Assure last week and the thing is way more quiet.

It's not difficult to manage codes using SmartThings. You just click on the Smart App and add, update, or delete codes. I change a code with SmartThings about once a week and it's really quick and easy. It's a bit more simple with Wink with the native code management integration but I prefer SmartThings over Wink in general. Hi, I am looking for the same thing using the Schlage WiFi Sense using the proximity of the phone to unlock the door. I heard that they do not allow Alexa to unlock the door because of situations where someone just stands outside the door and yells, "Alexa, unlock the door," and thieves can get in. However, for your GPS on your phone to do it would be wonderful. I heard that automate app or IFTTT app would do it, but you have to have SmartThings to do that apparently.
@SmartHomeSolver
@SmartHomeSolver 6 жыл бұрын
+David Berg yes you need SmartThings to automatically unlock your Schlage Connect lock. There is a smart app called Unlock It When I Arrive. You can use IFTTT to unlock your door with Alexa but I wouldn't recommend it for the example you said of someone unlocking the door from outside. Also note that Schlage Connect is Z-Wave compatible (so it works with SmartThings) and Schlage Sense is HomeKit so it works with Apple products.

+edd bays are you using SmartThings, Wink or another hub to connect to your Schlage Connect? Once you have the lock connected to a hub just go to the Alexa app and click on the Smart Home from the slide-out menu. Then click on Add Device which will scan for devices on your network and add the lock. If it's the first device you are connecting to Alexa from SmartThings, or another hub, make sure you add the Skill in Alexa first before adding the device. Click on Skills from the slide-out menu and search for the skill. Then add the device and you are good to go.

As of about 6 months ago, Google Home couldn't come close to doing everything Alexa could do. Google is finally getting around to becoming a strong competitor.. it only took them 2 years to do it.
