Locusts are a short-horned species of grasshopper, usually found in various regions of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. So there's a good reason why Ted and Schlatt have not seen locusts before.
@gays4holtby110 Жыл бұрын
locusts are present on all continents except for antarctica! they comprise several different species of grasshopper, all characterized by swarming behavior that is only activated under the correct environmental conditions. typically, drought conditions activate a part of their brain that kicks serotonin production into overtime. they fuck a lot, have a lot of babies, and raze fields of crops. they are more common around farming areas. that’s probably why neither ted nor schlatt has much personal experience with them

Just a fun fact from an entomologist! The US does not have locusts anymore because we plowed under all of our prairies and turned them into fields for crops. It is often necessary to rescue tourists that deviated from the indicated path and ended up stucked in quicksand because they can stay blocked when the tide rises and they can drown that way.

The reason "people who have nothing have everything" is exactly what Ted said: They might need it. How many times have you thrown something out and thought "I'll probably never use it again, but if I do I can just get another one because they're not that expensive"? "Not that expensive" is relative and always outside some people's budget. As to where they're getting it, you'd be amazed at the perfectly cromulent things that get throw out just because the previous owner was cleaning house or remodeling or because they were on fire or smelled of cat pee or because the guy who stole them off a building site tossed them in some bushes when he heard sirens.
