Macon, GA. Macon is a treasure trove of old money mansions whether it is the Intown Macon area or the Shirley Hills or Stanislaus neighborhoods. The architecture is amazing. While visiting a mansion in Natchez, the docent asked where I was from and I replied Macon. He laughed and said, "Why did you come to Natchez to see fabulous homes and architecture, my wife and I actually visited Macon to see the fabulous homes." Oh well, sometimes you take for granted the beauty that is around you.

Buckhead while exceedingly wealthy, is not a city but a district of Atlanta that was incorporated into the city in about 1955. Looks as if city hood for Buckhead "Buckhead City" proposition went down in flames agin this year and I find it ironic that Lenox Square mall has had to install metal detectors at the entrances. So, trust me on this; if you live in Buckhead, you live in the City of Atlanta. If one is going to live in Buckhead, you want to be on or around W. Paces Ferry Road in close proximity to the Governor's mansion or around Tuxedo. The rest of it is so, so.

All kids go to private schools and prestigious universities. They have generations of money where most families have homes at the "rivah", Outer Banks, or at a minimum, a retreat in the mountains or Kerr/Gaston Lakes or country home. Want to join CCV? Crazy story about Highland Park Tx. So I moved to Dallas in 2005.I use to drive around learning the city. One day I ended up around SMU and drove around Highland Park actually got lost me and my girlfriend we were just amazed at all the beautiful big houses.My girlfriend spot a house I passed that I didn't see... she said bae turn around I want to see that house again.I called myself making a u turn down this small back alleyway drive thru. It had no street name to it and if you were driving from the main street you might not even notice it. As we riding down this long no name alleyway I'm looking for away to turn around all of a sudden the alleyway begin to get wider with a huge gate entrance a big water fountain it was so beautiful back there and dozens upon dozens of people just chilling having fun. I looked at my girlfriend and said did we just stumble upon a hidden society back here that us regular folks don't know nothing about.

It wasn't the beautiful buildings that saved Savannah. It was a group of Savannah's influential & Wealthy citizens led by The Mayor who saved the town. They contacted and surrendered the town to Sherman well before he even entered the city, and begged him not to do to Savannah what he had done to the rest of the state of Georgia. Sherman relented and Savannah was saved. As a Georgian who loves Savannah, I'm glad they did what they did to save the town. The war was Lost already and there was no military reason to Raze Savannah to the ground. However, when he got to Charleston Sherman made up for giving Savannah a pass, and Played Hell In Charleston

What actually happened during and after the civil war is that most fortunes were confiscated by the Yankees! They marched into homes and cleaned them out while the owners watched! All their plantations were confiscated, lands divided up and sold at auctions! This happened to my South Carolina ancestor who was left with nothing! Sherman’s troops took everything and he played cards on my 5x great grandfather’s tilt top table!!

There ain't much old money left in Natchez, I can assure you of that. The big money in that town is new money. But yes, even a lot of the new money doesn't realize what it takes to restore and upkeep a home from the Antebellum or Victorian period. Though there's been a big push in the last few years with the influx of outta state folks leaving numerous other States for the lower housing costs of Natchez(other areas too). Quite a number of them have plowed big sums and had some nicely finished product.

@@davidstephan5116 Nah. America never ended slavery. They just keep rehashing the system to adapt to changing technology and economic interests. Numero uno: the 13th Amendment which freed the slaves contains a provision permitting the enslavement of convicted prisoners. This amendment conveniently arrived at the tail end of the Industrial Revolution, which emphasized prison-friendly manufacturing work over agrarian work. The list goes on. More recently, Martin Luther King decreed that blacks' love for our enemies should be primarily impersonal and "spiritual" in nature, as opposed to emotional or erotic. I'm a biracial female who looks to black to qualify for informal "free black" status, but I'm largely attracted to guys like my dad who is both white and much higher-status than I am. This policy did not escape me because I'm VERY smart, and I'll pummel your goddam imperial white coochies in if it's the last thing I do.
@evelynzlon9492
@evelynzlon9492 Жыл бұрын
@@davidstephan5116 I also feel perfectly comfortable threatening whites with violence, because the aforementioned policy has a disproportionate adverse impact on biracial people anyway. The intimate personal nature of this policy also lends itself to all manner of violence. As a biological axiom, this is inherently hazardous to whites ANYWAY, by virtue of its principal targets' half-whiteness. Dr. King was also obviously puppet for these white supremacists, because counterintuitively, elites and whites financially benefited from civil rights policies to a far greater degree than blacks did. Do not think your women can ask for it and put the stops in as desired. It doesn't work that way.

A lot of wealthy enclaves in Florida in general. Miami is hopping, but mostly new money. Palm Beach was pretty fairly covered. Naples and Tampa/St. Pete have a mix of old and new money. Marco Island has a lot of new money. And the strip of towns up in the panhandle known as the Emerald Coast are drawing a lot of wealth, mostly of the new money sort.

We consider Maryland to be north (though we know some will disagree). Potomac is an extremely wealthy town, and we mentioned you guys in our DC video.
