I have watched four videos on timing belt change for a 200hp Yamaha four stroke. I am struggling with the job as either the belt is too tight or the adjustment on the tensioner does not sufficiently release pressure on the belt. This is the fourth video and in my opinion the best. it is way more helpful than the Yamaha service manual. Thank you.

Excellent video you're the only one that actually focused the camera. In on the dots for the camshafts, it is deeply appreciated just saying.

Thanks for the video. It was very educational. You gave me enough confidence to tackle the timing belt and tensioner replacement on my 2006 F225. Different horsepower but it was essentially same set up. Thanks again.

im 2.5 minutes in and already realize that im coming off the 150 labor plus parts and having the shop do it. that shits way past my pay grade. hats off to ya for being able to do that stuff though, youve paid your dues im sure.

Thanks for the video. The voice over was done very well and very helpful. Thanks for the spending the time to put together this video. I feel like I can do it myself now.

Hey David, thank you for spending the time and commenting. I like the voice overs and the biggest thing is i am not always setting up and taking down the camera and i can add more while i am editing and make it better. It is not a hard job but just make sure everything is back together perfect

The rotor is not to be hit or taped with a hammer . Like you said and Yamaha it’s a vibration damper as well and has the magnets witch by taping or hitting with a gamer may cause a failure.

Thanks for the quick video. I have a F225 and doing it this week, it's the same routine as the F200. Not sure why, but on the F300 with the VVT, if you're using the Yamaha OEM belt, they put the marks on the belt for you already. They should put the marks on this belt too, but the Yamaha OEM belt I just bought doesn't include the marks. :( Putting the marks on the old belt and transferring to the new belt is a great idea, thanks!

Thanks for the video! Currently doing it on my f150, had a hell of a time with the flywheel nut and having trouble with pulling the flywheel. Got a better puller so lets hope that fixes my problem
@Schneids15
@Schneids15 6 жыл бұрын
Like i say i had a ton of pressure on it with a breaker bar. You could also put a block of wood on the flywheel and then give it a good whack and it should come off.
@MEGA_SOKO

@@Schneids15 Believe it or not, I put a ratchet strap around the flywheel (looped twice and hooked to the lifting ring), that gave me enough holding pressure for breaking the flywheel nut, as well as when I re-torqued it! I'm not buying a flywheel holding tool for just this one job, the price is insanely stupid.

Schneids15 thank you. I’ve been looking for one and I’m not sure what size to buy. I have a 2010 Yamaha 115HP. I’m also trying to find a Yama factory service manual for that same engine. Any ideas?

Can’t really say i use a seloc manual it was around 30-40$ i believe. Any puller you can put bolts in will likely fit.

I had to bite the bullet and buy a puller, I had 2 others, but they would not fit correctly, so I bought a new one. Worth the money.

I noticed that the 10mm slot on top of your tensioner was cracked. I ended up stripping mine out and had to modify it to get the work done. $435 for a piece of crap tensioner is completely rediculous.
@Schneids15
@Schneids15 5 жыл бұрын
Look at it closer. The 10mm tensioner “crack” is actually a crack in the cover that goes over the actual tensioner.
@captdh7642
@captdh7642 5 жыл бұрын
That's correct, and that is where I stripped out that 10mm opening for backing off the tensioner on my motor. It just seems that Yamaha would make it a bit more robust, especially for the kind of money they want for this part. Great video, thanks for posting it.

When I had my belts replaced the tech cracked the tensioners on both engines, cost me about $1,000 for his mistake. I was not aware that the tensioner would still function when cracked. The secret is to take your time and only put 10 pounds of torque on it. If it feels like it is not moving, stop and start over with gentile increasing pressure you will feel it start to move.

if you take tensioner off you can collapse it in a vice then put allen wrench in

im not sure if this could be a timing belt but on my f150 2005 i am having a noise that only occurs in neutral that will sound as if the motor is turning itself over for a second and then creates this metal on metal noise. when i shift into forward gear the noise goes away. I dont know if its something interfering with the flywheel or maybe the timing belt... any advice or info would be very beneficial and appreciated
@The.Norwegian
@The.Norwegian 4 жыл бұрын
hey, are you still having this issue? if your motor has not had its crankshaft balancer assembly changed, i'd suggest you get to doing it right away. they WILL break and make noise, eventually causing catastrophic engine failure
@MEGA_SOKO
@MEGA_SOKO 3 жыл бұрын
The belt will not make a metallic noise. Sounds like your dog clutch, but without being there, it's hard to tell from typed text. Upload a video and link it on YT if you have not fixed it yet.

@Schneids15

Yes my thought is there is a lot of difference. Due to the 2 stroke having no valve train there is no timing belt to replace.

4:58 your tensioner is cracked
@Schneids15
@Schneids15 Жыл бұрын
Hey, yes as mentioned before the cracking is in the aluminum outer cover. Kind of like the “chrome capped” lug nuts on cars. There is a layer over top that is cracked. The tensioner itself was fine though. Josh

@chipogglesby6055 5 жыл бұрын
you fucked the tensioner up and cracked it
@Schneids15
@Schneids15 5 жыл бұрын
No. If you do the job you will see the tensioner has a cover on it and it cracked. That is not the actual tensioner. The cover is very soft metal. I had the proper allen key in it and with twisting it slowly dug into the metal and caused it to crack. Just a thin cover on top. Josh
