The list of funded scholarships are as follows:
1. GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders
Three scholarships are offered to support the training and development of the next generation of leaders in global health, and strengthen the capacity of health systems and health-related research in Africa.
These highly competitive scholarships are available to applicants intending to study on a one-year, full-time, London-based (face-to-face) MSc programme at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
Award details
Three scholarships are available for the 2021-22 academic year. Each scholarship will cover:
tuition fees, including any mandatory field trip fees; and
a tax-free stipend (living allowance) of GBP 17,400.00.
2. LSHTM Fund Scholarship
This scholarship has been made possible by donors to the LSHTM Fund. Supported by hundreds of alumni and friends, the LSHTM Fund provides scholarships for the next generation of global health leaders. This year’s scholarship is intended to support an excellent candidate who would be unable to take up a place of study without this financial support.
Award Details
One LSHTM Fund Scholarship is available for 2021-22. The scholarship award comprises
2021-22 tuition fees (at the overseas fee rate), including any mandatory field trip fees, and
a tax-free stipend (living allowance) of GBP 17,400.00.
3. Johnson & Johnson Global Mental Health Scholarships
The Janssen Global Mental Health Scholarship Fund was launched in 2012 through a generous donation from Janssen Pharmaceutica (part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies). In 2018, the Johnson & Johnson Scholarship Fund was launched, providing an additional 18 scholarships over five years. This is an annual award until 2022 (for 2022-23 academic year).
London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is offering up to four Johnson & Johnson Global Mental Health Scholarships to students accepted onto the 2021-22 MSc Global Mental Health programme.
Each scholarship will cover:
full tuition fees at the KCL overseas fee rate; and
a stipend (living allowance) of GBP 17,400.00; and
an allowance of GBP 500.00 for MSc project expenses.
4. Jeroen Ensink Memorial Fund Scholarship
One scholarship is available to applicants for 2021-22 MSc Public Health for Development programme. This full-time one-year studentship covers:
full-time overseas tuition fees for 2021-22 (including the mandatory field trip fee); and
flights from the student’s home country to the United Kingdom, and return on expiry of the scholarship (to be booked by the Scholarships team in LSHTM Registry); and
a tax-free stipend (living allowance) of GBP 17,400.00.
Eligibility for funding
To be eligible for a scholarship under this fund, applicants must:
have been accepted onto the 2021-22 MSc Public Health for Development course; and
have demonstrated a commitment to WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene); and
be a citizen of one of the following sub-Saharan African or South Asian countries: Afghanistan; Angola; Bangladesh; Benin; Botswana; Bhutan; Burkina Faso; Burundi; Cameroon; Cape Verde; Central African Republic; Chad; Comoros; Republic of Congo; Democratic Republic of Congo; Djibouti; Equatorial Guinea; Ethiopia; Eritrea; Gabon; Gambia; Ghana; Guinea; Guinea-Bissau; India; Ivory Coast; Kenya; Lesotho; Liberia; Madagascar; Malawi; Maldives; Mali; Mauritania; Mauritius; Mozambique; Namibia; Nepal; Niger; Nigeria; Pakistan; Rwanda; São Tomé and Príncipe; Senegal; Seychelles; Sierra Leone; Somalia; South Sudan; South Africa; Sri Lanka; Sudan; Swaziland; Tanzania; Togo; Uganda; Zambia; Zimbabwe.
