This week Schony747 features Steamrail Victoria's Eureka Express as it flies along The Ballarat Railway Line between Melbourne and Ballarat.
Scottish built Hudson R Class Steam Locomotive R711 Spirit of Bendigo hauled the vintage car consist. The Ballarat Line features a mix of steep grades and flat lines and you will see R711 pounding up the grades and flying along the flat lines.
The R Class replaced the A2 Steam Engine on high speed passenger trains in the early 1950s. All locomotives were withdrawn just over 20 years later as the diesel era took hold.

Very good filming from some real good locations there 👍 I was on board the train and I can say it was a fantastic day and everybody enjoyed it apart from an unplanned lengthy stop that shut down the line at Werribee due to someone trackside that fell into a pit ( we had a PSO and a Police sergeant on board on the trip from Ballarat to Melbourne) we were stopped for around an hour and a half approx. but apart from that everything ran like clockwork

I think I heard that the Eureka Express hit someone and sustained a broken leg at Werribee on the return trip back to the city

Did it? How would you get a broken leg from a train passing by?

someone fell on the tracks and broke there leg just before the train was passing through so had to stop the train.

I don’t believe so, the person was on a different track to the train, the person got injured when jumping on the tracks from the fall.

Is the Ingleston bank really 1 - 50? The yanks get apoplexie with 1 - 30. It handles the climb well, luckily not a long train.🇦🇺
