There is just something about the sound of the EMD's working hard that is sort of soothing or the like. It is the same sort of reaction one gets to hearing a merlin engine in full power.

Good day Brenden, It was only a matter of time before you went to Warrenheip & captured those beautiful sounding V16 EMD 567 at Notch 8 battling the grade. Sounded absolutely awesome & soothing at the same time beautifully capture in all its glory. In your professional opinion what is the harder grade to climb Gooseberry or Warrenheip? Great video thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers Louis Kats ☺👍
@Schony747 Жыл бұрын
In my professional no nothing about trains bur enjoy filming them, Warrenheip is the harder and much longer grade to conquer as it's an uphill grade that only gets steeper from The Queen St Railway bridge and that's a long length of a climb.

Is the lead locomotive (S312) essentially the same as a North American E unit? It looks like an E, with 6 axles and longer length than an F unit. Does it have two Vee-12's in it like an E does? Whatever the configuration I do love this sound. Ken.

Over the years Warrenheip Bank has claimed a few victims. It's probably not feasible to have a banker based at Ballarat as there's only a handful of freight trains that run every week through Ballarat.

It's not eye catching that's for sure. When grain cars spend lots of time stationary without much protection, this sort of stuff will always happen.

how many gears does it have? and is it automatic or manual?
@Schony747 Жыл бұрын
It's a V12 engine. I'm assuming it would be automatic as the train driver just notches of from one to 8.
@graemets3 Жыл бұрын
It’s a 1810hp V16, or in GM speak a 16V, two-stroke diesel engine. It’s not an automatic. It’s diesel-electric.

No gears. The diesel engine drives a generator that powers electric motors on the bogie. Think of it as how a petrol range extender works on an electric car.
