While small, the rate of child hospitalizations and deaths is increasing (see Texas). If you live in an area with low vaccination rates for adults/school workers, and a high case rate... masks should 100% be required for kids. High school especially. The mistake was keeping kids out of school. THAT was the detriment to their well being. Masks are about as annoying and impactful as a school uniform. The kids sound like little parrots
@regret813 жыл бұрын
It only shows just how impressionable kids are. The younger they are, the more easily they can be shaped by the people that they hang around most often. Growing up as a kid is a crapshoot. They don't know what quality of parents they'll have, what quality of home life they'll have, who they'll have (if anyone) for siblings or friends, etc. It's depressing to think that kids grow up not fully aware of how the people around them early in their lives influence their development, sometimes to the detriment of their adult years. Today's kids that have been harmed and put at risk by ill-conceived reasoning by their anti-vaccinated, anti-mask elders will take names and remember the people who didn't look out for them.

Look, masks and vaccines were apart of Bush's plan that he created back in 2005 to treat a pandemic. It's not a new conspiracy to take away freedoms -- this is something that even older republican leaders acknowledged would curve the dangers of a pandemic. In any case, freedom cannot exist without responsibility. It's the government that entrusts us with and protect the freedoms we benefit so much from. Like em or not, without the government, we don't have those freedoms. Without a government, there is anarchy and there is no authority to ensure our freedoms. So do your part to take care of yourself, your community, and your government if you care so much about freedom.

@@DescendingBlade Freedom is right only because we live in a society that enables that. It's easy for those of us in the US to forget this, but for the rest of the world, it's a privilege at best because a lot of countries aren't responsible enough to uphold it. In places like North Korea, people don't even get a chance to be responsible for their own rights. So be my guest to go to one of these less privileged countries and tell them their lives are worthless because they don't have the same "freedoms" we do.

@Ryan Brown I lived in Japan for 4 years. During flu season people wear masks and gloves. I didn't have a problem with it at all. I still don't. I think people should wear masks when they have a cold or the flu. It struck me as a really courteous thing to do. They also don't touch money there, bank tellers wear gloves and put money on a tray and hand it to you. It doesn't eliminate the flu but it does reduce it. I wore to work (In the US) when I had a cold, and when I explained that I had to be there to make deadline, but I didn't want to make anyone sick, they were cool with it.
@roguectgarbeled28723 жыл бұрын
@Ryan Brown As long as people don't vaccinate and don't wear masks it will be around forever and continue to mutate. We might get lucky and it mutates into something more benign or maybe we will get a mutation that has 99% morbidity and 99% mortality and won't that be fun. A virus doesn't go away until it can't find enough hosts to spread and grow in. We are keeping this going by our very actions. We already have delta and lambda, I can't wait until we get omega.

I teach 1st grade and these parents are so out of touch with reality and entitled. The mother who said children do not wear them properly and implied that children are so bothered by masks is incredibly off base. In my experience as a teacher, my 6 year old students do great properly wearing their masks and don't complain about them (it's the adults doing all the complaining). Sure, children may not properly wear their masks for their parents (clearly if she assumes children don't wear masks properly), but I promise with structure and high expectations at school, they are fine! Children are so much more resilient than a lot of their parents.

Children adapt easily. They are humble. They accept whatever they are taught. So the question is, are they being taught what is best for them? Have you considered that making them wear masks might actually be making some of them sicker?
@FromHeadToPumps3 жыл бұрын
@@ztodd LOL are you serious? I'll pretend that you're actually really that ignorant and answer your question - no, masks are not making them sicker. They are learning a valuable lesson about caring for others and working together as a team for a common goal. They are doing what needs to be done to stay in person. They desperately need to be in school and the reason we haven't shut down is because my school has a strict mask requirement that is enforced. They are incredibly behind from having to be virtual for over a year. I will happily teach in a mask for 8 hours everyday to do my part in keeping them in school. They want to be in school and don't complain about wearing masks! It's the parents who complain and set a bad example for the children!

Since day 1 I have made it important for the kids to see that I’m wearing a mask and wearing it properly. My kids could wear mask alllll day with no complaints. One of my children is asthmatic. No issues! My kids wear them even if all the other kids around them don’t. That’s because we tell them how important it is to protect themselves and others. Just wear your masks and your kids will follow suit! Geez. It’s not taking your rights away-it’s protecting those who can get very sick from this virus that we don’t know much about. It manifests differently in each individual case. Why take the risk? Be safe everyone… it’s not over yet. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
