As a gas engineer this is an interesting look into oil. Totally get what you're saying, if that boiler had broken down and some else had looked at it they would have said "well the last bloke left it wrong"

Excellent one Ollie. Totally respect your honesty, diligence and determination to get it right. Every day is a school day as they say and assuming a boiler has been set up and running correctly when you arrive to do a service is one that anyone can get sucked into. In my previous reincarnation working with Marine boilers at sea, the component you were adjusting on the burner shroud assembly we referred to as the ‘quarl ‘- its function was flame stabilisation, flame shape and of course providing turbulent air for good mixing. Keep up the good work.😀👍

13% seems way to close for comfort on a std eff Reillo, on a Blue flame maybe............ No one likes a sooter! Personally I would think high 11's to 12 would be ballpark. I change the lead/lag boilers every service to even runtime/wear out, if BMS doesn't support then I go old school and tweak the stats. ;-) Do yourself a favour going forward mate and change braided flexis every year and that way your arse is covered. Have you not heard the horror stories ? I try and put all my regulars on longlife hoses and do them every 4/5 years. Loving your content. Have a good week.
@HeatingGeek6 ай бұрын
Others have said that to me too. It's weird, I do the hoses on domestic boilers but find the commercial burners are mostly on originals. I done a suntec burner that had 1999 hoses on it and they were fine. Would you go ruby reds on them all or new braided?
@julianhawker76726 ай бұрын
@@HeatingGeek The old Boulter "Thermo-plastic" hose from the 90's are still going strong, so manufactures can make them to last. I gave up on braided years ago and have heard tails of woe from those who have not. I carry Green long lifes in various patterns and swap every 4/5 yrs, a Wallstar clear hose, the WB hose for the old B/F in the tin box (as nothing else fits properly) and a couple of Houndsfields. (mainly for range cookers) Not gone down the Ruby red route, houndsfield says his hoses are a fit and forget solution and i have yet to see one leak. Did you get to the bottom of the boiler 1 not going to full flame ?
@jamesjulian6 ай бұрын
Braided must be changed once a year. Always used long life. Most of the old ones would not be suitable for bio anyway and we’ve had a blend for years. I would never adjust oil burner first. See what it’s like when it’s running. Someone probably spent hours making it reliable.
